Not even the buying slots in the suggested followers list is a long lasting part, and is definitely not a part of their planned business plan. It’s silly to even expect twitter to get ads. One, they don’t have a standard ad network they can use (please don’t say say google ads, with the rife between them ,they’re is not a chance in the world twitter ever collaborates especially with google), and also because the day they include ads, they very well know that the rate at which their usage will drop, might be faster than the pickup rate. Ppl never realize how much they hate ads, but they really do. That’s why yahoo fails in front of Gmail. Also, I can once more bet, that Twitter’s business model is gonna be way more stable and trust worthy, and exploiting its stickiness through apps, rather than visiting the site. Cause if they planned to monetize through ads, they would never have released an API and allowed different apps to spring up.
Take my word, kill me if ads come on Twitter, at any point of time. 😀
