Ebay wants Skype to go Public in 2010

The blogosphere was hot with Rumours regarding the Skype founders planning to buy Skype Back from Ebay. But things seem completely different. Ebay has planned an IPO for Skype which should be completed in the in the first half of 2010.

Tom Donahoe in a recent annoucement said

It’s clear that Skype has limited synergies with eBay and PayPal. We believe operating Skype as a stand-alone publicly traded company is the best path for maximizing its potential.

So things are seem quite clear and therefore crush the earlier rumours.

Live search not favored by Microsoft employees

Its one thing that the general public do not have Live Search as their favorite and preferred search engine. It is quite a different thing when you come to know that even employees at Microsoft do not use Live Search for searching over the Internet, well most of the employees anyway.

According to a report from CNET, nearly half of company workers use Google and other search engines for searching the required information.

However, statistics show that for the month of February, Google and Live Search had almost equal share of 48 percent each. Well that is a positive sign or not.

Microsoft Senior Vice President regarding this stat stated:

I think some of that is predicated on us talking broadly about some great experiences and promoting it heavily, which is something I think we are going to do soon,

Upload and comments feature disabled for YouTube Korea

Google has disabled the upload and comments feature for the Korean version of its video portal “YouTube”. This decision was made by Google after the South Korean government announced a new law.

The law named ” The Cyber Defamation Law” demands sites who have 100,000 unique visitors or more to get the user to  provide their name and natioanl ID number whenever they upload files or leave comments.

While Google has clearly obeyed the law, they have also provided a trick to get around this law. One can easily overcome this barrier by changing the preferred nation from Korea to some other nation. So Korean users dont have to worry much about this restriction since they have an escape route defined to them by Google.

Why are Skype founders trying to buy Skype back from Ebay?

Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis who sold Skype, an Online Telephone Calling Service,  for a price Tag of $2.6 Billion in 2005 are looking for ways to acquire it back from Ebay. Ebay after acquring it has also not made any efforts to integrate it with it’s Website so probably it is also willing to sell it back to the founders.

Now the question arises why is it hoping to sell Skype to it’s founders only and not any other bidder? It may be because of the pending lawsuit between Ebay and Joltid . Joltid is a Company Owned by the Skype founders which provides Skype with it’s Peer to peer technology.

Joltid would no more provide the technology to Skype  because Skype’s licence was revoked so therefore Ebay has not option than to sell it to the founders themselves. The Deal has not been confirmed but at this stage it can be called a rumour. Subscribe our blog and stay updated with the news that follow.

10 dollar laptop : Will it ever be true?

Indian Government has announced to launch a $10 Laptop. Now how will it be, what will it contain, why is it being launched and so on… all these questions shall be answered further. First the reason why this laptop is being developed is because in India Laptops are Very Much Costly for the people in Rural India To afford so the Indian Government came up with an idea to develop a laptop which could work in places of less internet conecetivity and also it would consume very less electricity i.e around 2 Watts.

It will have a 2 Gb ram along with Wireless internet connectivity. Now that’s Good but it does not contain a Hard Drive nor a Cd/Dvd Drive. Indian government need to really work hard as Processors and other costs may take the laptop price much higher.

Computer in a Ball : Is that going to be the future?

Recently While surfing through the Blogoshphere I found an Amazing Computer Concept which stated itslef to be the future of Computing. It is a Ball like structure which has a Virtual KeyBoard and a virtual screen. It is just a concept and that may turn out to be the future of computing.

This Ball like Computer is Called E-Ball and was designed by Apostol Tnokovski. He was trying to make the design for world’s smallest PC and ended here.  Instead of having an Actualy KeyBoard and Screen, it would use a projection for keyboard and the Screen. More pictures after the break.
