Google Wave has a context sensitive spell checker

Spell Checkers normally are not that smart. They consider a word to be incorrect if they can’t find it in their dictionary.  Even if words are in the dictionary, they still cannot identify the error of using the word in an improper context. Well Google seems to have realized that. Google Wave, the latest sensation from Google previewed recently at Google I/O conference, contains a context sensitive spell checker. To solve the above mentioned problem, the smart spell checker of Google Wave uses the language models built for Google Translate to search for  words that don’t belong in a certain context.

The answer to above’s question is answered by a research done where Images were uploaded on famous social networking websites like Facebook, Hi5, Bebo, LiveJournal, MySpace and many others and Each of the image url was noted. Then Later All of the images were deleted.

It was Found that many website’s did not delete the photographs even after 30 days, while some did instantly.

For our experiment, we uploaded a test image onto 16 chosen sites with default permissions, then noted the URL of the uploaded image. Every site served the test image given knowledge of its URL except for Windows Lives Spaces, whose photo servers required session cookies (a refreshing congratulations to Microsoft for beating the competition in security). We ran our initial study for 30 days, and posted the results below. A dismal 7 of the 16 sites failed to revoke photos after 30 days

Here are the Results of the research -

Did not remove photographs even after 30 days - Facebook, Hi5, Bebo, LiveJournal, MySpace

Removed Photographs in 30 days - Blogger, Friendster,  Tagged, Picasa

How not to popularize your video on MetaCafe

Bollywood’s pretty famous around the world and it’s Obvious that the Online world is always buzzing with Bollywood content. While browsing through some metacafe’s Video’s i found a Video which say’s “Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Deleted Kissing Scene from Dostana”. And as far i know about the movie there was no kissing scene.  But then I gave it a try and what i see was the most surprising thing. Video after the Break -

Now it shows some  banner for 5 seconds and then come’s a picture of the Actors. That’s it. Then it say’s that the video has paused and will only work if you Rate it 5 stars and then Leave a comment with nice video and then refresh the page. This is pretty lame.

Is $80 Million Enough for a Microsoft Ad Campaign?

Microsoft has planned a Ad Campaign ranging between 80 Million Dollars to 100 Million Dollars. Now if you are thinking this campaign is for Windows, then this time you are wrong, It’s Bing, Microsoft’s Search engine with which Microsoft hopes to compete with Google.

In a Discussion with Various Experts most of them said that advertising wouldn’t help Bing to get loyal users. Pre-iPhone, People were unaware of those Multi Touch screens, those applications but advertising with focus on these new features made the ad campaign and the product a success and Microsoft also aims to have such an effect by giving users a reason to shift from Other search engine to theirs.

Till now, Not any campaign of this magnitude has hit Google so predicting it’s success or failure now would not be of any use.
