One simple reason why Apple did not make iPad technologically fat [Myth Buster]

Everyone’s frowning over Apple’s decision to not add camera, multitasking etc.. to the iPad. But you know there’s one man somewhere smiling, in the dark and the reason is because everything is going just as he wished.

It’s not a joke that humans more than the capabilities look over disabilities first but finally, whatever it is they have to accept it and if you ask me, then Apple has added a lot of features to the iPad and it has focused a lot on not what is currently existing but what is going to be there with you, in your hands in the future and you will desire for it.

If we fly back to 2001, when iPod was first released people said that it was called a big fat storage device for “fat” people to store their huge libraries. The first review from Slashgear also highlighted all the negative points about the iPod which convinced people quite well. Lastly, ask me who won? Selling over 240,000,000 pieces from 2001 till last month, Apple clearly did and they know quite well that they will.

If we see Apple’s iPad is the perfect for everything it does. iPad’s large screen size made it to be called as an oversized iPod by everyone, including me, said that but well it did take me sometime to realize it’s potential. a 9.7 inch is capable of doing things which you did earlier on other devices too, but there is something impressive and un-noticed about it unless you actually start using it. I have often desired the iPod and iPhone screens to be larger while i was watching videos and something less heavy and more portable than my laptop and television. Here’s where the iPad steps in. Guess what else? It does nearly most of what all the devices do, sort of.

iPhone and iPod touch OS being used on iPad was lamented all over by all experts as people wanted innovation. Well, iPhone OS itself was a innovation but it’s true that it has grown 3 years old but it’s always evolving. Amidst all this, one most not forget that whenever something new enters the market, you need to teach your consumers how to use it and the iPhone was as simple, a 12 year old kid or a 70 year old man could just unlock and start using it easily and i couldn’t have imagined for anything much simpler than this for the iPad. It’s a real smart move.

Next on the track. Where’s the camera? I know if i say that not adding a camera was a brilliant move by Apple, there will be people waiting to kill me. Wait, read the rest of this. When Steve Jobs introduced the iPad at the keynote he showed you a picture. He said that he wanted to introduce something, a new product line which was between the MacBook and the iPod, iPhones and not a replacement for the rest of the products. Get that right, it’s not a replacement.

That will surely answer all of your questions. Steve Jobs is a shrewd businessman. He knows what to sell, when and most importantly he knows what not to sell. Just imagine, if iPad had multitasking and a camera, people would think twice before going for a iPhone. Also the larger screen gives it a huge advantage over the iPod touch, so if it had additional features, would people buy iPod Touch’s?

If iPad had a OS somewhat similar to the MacBook’s and MAC OS X do you think the Mac sales will continue to be as they were? Obviously not. They would see some amount of sales drop and those people will be the one’s the buy iMacs.

What I have learnt from history, it shows that Apple always wants to sell most of it’s products to one customer at a time, like iPhone and Macs have real tight integration via iTunes and so does iPad. It’s like a family and without any member it cannot survive so Apple is trying to do something like that.

Apple is reknowned for the simplicity of it’s products and I have never seen any gadget made by Apple crammed with all features. The art of segregating is very well known by those at Apple and they know what is important for the product and not.

The last thing that i have always noticed is that Apple would not add anything to it’s army till it’s competitors force it to, like the Video Recording feature to the iPhone. It’s this simple game that Apple always plays and wins, either you accept it or not. Overall Apple is seriously a marketing genius!

Then there is this saying,

If your product is great, it doesn’t need to be good.

Symbian^4 makes a debut : Seriously, not what we expected

Symbian^3 was shown up at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona and here we are greeted with demo videos for Symbian^4 which surely leave us disappointed a lot.

It’s been hyped a lot, and especially after Windows Phone 7 Series, we expect a lot from the newer and upcoming operating systems. It did not live upto expectations. We were expecting a breakthrough in mobile OS with some unique innovation but guess what we got? Three home screens which are widget ready. They have kept the touch sensitiveness very high and this OS revolves all around it.

What is surprising is that after so much hype and time, we get this? We were expecting something better. Nokia, you’ve got to work real hard! The videos we’ve got are extremely short, like about 30 seconds but enough to give a glimpse of what’s going to be out there. This comes into production in early 2011.

Now find a CPU inside your Keyboard

First CPU came as a big monster occupying the whole room, then it started shrinking. Then came iMac, Apple’s Computer which had the CPU contained inside the monitor.  And now what we have today is a CPU inside a keyboard. Exciting isn’t it? Check out the pics after break

Wow! Awesome pics and hope it comes soon into the market.

Thanks for the Images, Fun And Fun Only

Yahoo partners with Twitter

Yahoo!, the so called internet giant which is losing its vigor due to immense competition from Google and Bing. If you were following the recent news, you might know that Twitter made few bucks signing a deal with Google and Bing, allowing them to index the tweets.

Lately, we also came across the fact that even Yahoo was indexing tweets from twitter, but there was no such deal. Yahoo! was just using the most famous –  publicly accessible API (Application Programming Interface).

Here’s what the news is. Twitter confirmed that they have partnered with Yahoo on their blog.

According to this deal, Yahoo will index the public timeline from Twitter, second by second from all over the globe and will show relevant tweets in all their searches and portals. What more? Yahoo will make clients for twitter to make tweets directly from anywhere on the Yahoo! network. It’s no surprise that Yahoo still has 600 Million users which is no small figure.

Apple’s iPhone OS coming to more platforms and devices, mostly AppleTV?

Here’s some hot news. If you thought iPad was just enough iPhone OS then wait, there’s more iPhone OS coming! Yes, Apple is planning to bring the revolutionary App and home screen OS to many more devices.

Proof? A recent job posting which folks at ComputerWorld found, Apple is seeking a full-time engineering manager for “platform bring-up” part of the Core OS platform team.

Here’s a part of it,

The Core Platform team within Apple’s Core OS organization is looking for a talented and inspired manager to lead a team focused on bring-up of iPhone OS on new platforms. The team is responsible for low level platform architecture, firmware, core drivers and bring-up of new hardware platforms. The team consists of talented engineers with experience in hardware, firmware, IOKit drivers, security and platform architecture.

This position requires a very technical and hands-on leader, experience in working closely with hardware team and a deep understanding of bare metal software. You must be a highly self-motivated individual who seeks to create a dynamic and creative team environment in which old problems are solved in new and innovative ways.

What Mashable observed points that Apple is looking to poach the product managers for Google Android who have experience Unix OS and to develop mobile phones supporting Unix like operating systems. Most importantly they are looking for ARM based System-on-Chip (SoC) level design too (*Cough* A4 SoC’s – the most recent ones in the iPad *Cough*) which seems to power iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch’s and Apple TV too.

So now you know the relation. iPhone could possibly come to Apple TV too as both are based of ARM SoC’s and that it currently uses a Mac OS X derived OS which could be made better if the iPhone UI is used and it will enable Multi-Touch input too.

Predictions start being made now. Firstly rather then bringing the OS to a current device, instead there might be a idea bubbling up of a newer device? Not a new product line like tablets but a revision to MacBook, or a MacBook Mini which would have iPhone OS as primary OS or a low ARM Based server.

Much more can be developed on these existing technologies as the iPhone OS defines a new era of computing with so called “apps” to perform and utilize all the hardware capabilities of the device.

Facebook, Twitter or Google Buzz- What do you choose?

So are you confused to choose the social network that suits you the best? No problem. We are here to help you. Its very difficult to select between Facebook, Twitter and Google’s latest product Buzz.

Facebook, Twitter and is chosen because they are the top 2 social networking service. Buzz is chosen because it is the latest product and people might think is this good or bad?

The other services might have been listed here. MySpace is probably on a decline. Linkedin is a business tool and the other services don’t give a global platform with all the features.

1. Facebook

This network is the best of all. Well organized and has all the features you will need. The best way is to connect to a person is just become friends. A recent survey done shows that people who use Facebook are most addicted to it.

Another interesting feature of facebook is that you have messages same like mails and direct chat with your friends. This means that you use less of your mail and more of Facebook.

And one of the important feature of FB is that it gives you an advertising platform where you can advertise your products.

The main drawback of Facebook is that the chat and messaging feature takes a lot of time to load and mostly connectivity is bad.

2. Twitter

What makes people attract towards Twitter is its simplicity. It is a place for you to microblog with just 140 characters. Its the right place for you to share your views or even earn money from tweeting.

The friendship method is not followed in this. Twitter has followers. Making friends means following people.

This platform is for sharing tweets for all people who follow you but it won’t reach to a particular person. Even if you type @….. it will mention that person but others will be able to view your tweet. It has messaging system where its up to useless. If you follow people and they follow you, you just receive junk of spams in your mail box.

But twitter to has its worth. You can promote anything you want and it wil reach audience.

3. Google Buzz

This network is too soon to be explained. This doomed into the INTERNET with a heavy promotion from Google. This one interestingly automatically comes with your Google Account. All those who you have in your contacts automatically will become your followers.

With Google promoting it, Buzz has skyrocketed. This is because it has been included in GMail. Buzz has integration with other medias like Flickr, Picasa and even the Twitter.

It has easy use and simple interface. People can just send their messages privately or even publicly. But Google Buzz is only up to Gmail. You cannot find friends and follow them if they are not on the contact list. The features are surely not like other social networking site but has some content in it.

iTunes to hit 10 Billion Song Downloads soon : Win $10,000 Gift Card from Apple!

Apple has revolutionized the Music industry with iPod but if we say, it was just the iPod then we’re quite mistaken. It’s iTunes which went hand in hand with the iPod to create history.

History will be created again soon when iTunes crosses 10 Billion music downloads after the App store for iPhone and iPod touch crossed 3 Billion downloads. From 2001, it has been an amazing journey.

9 years back no one ever know it would ever reach here. This was one of the greatest inventions which changed the way we manage our massive playlists. Apple fought against huge titles and smart campaigns were launched and records were broken. Individual purchase of songs for $0.99 was made possible. All this with iTunes.

Now by the time i refresh my page, over 700 songs are sold. It’s that quick!

Apple is celebrating it too and if your the lucky one to buy the 10th Billion Song then you get a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

HTC Desire : Makes more SENSE than Nexus one?

HTC today at the Mobile World Congress, threw many Android phones into the wild and one of them being Desire. It’s not something revolutionary but it is a promising device though.

Desire is a “smart” looking smartphone and it is possible that you could have read these features earlier in the Google Nexus One review too. This gadget is equipped with Android 2.1, a 3.7 inch AMOLED Screen (480×800 pixel resolution), 1 GHz SnapDragon chips, 512MB ROM and 576MB of RAM, GPS, WiFi and tons of other same features as Nexus One. It carries a 5 Megapixel camera with Autofocus and Flash too. This device also brings native flash support 10.1.

The one most distinguishing feature in Desire which sets it apart from Nexus One is lack of trackball in the front and Desire features a Sense UI. The Sense UI gives the existing Android a WebOS like feel. It divides the screen into widgets and Multiple side-scrolling homescreen panes and draws live contents from Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.
