I see the Wifi only version of iPad, kinda get transformed to the 3G version. Remember the MyWi app to use iPhone’s 3G on iPad? It filled in one gap in the Wifi Only iPad.

Next, you would have found out that the 3G-less version of iPad lacks GPS too. Sad na? No more. Just follow this tiny hack and have GPS on your iPad too!

  1. Jailbreak your iPad (Ignore if you have already done it).
  2. Get the BTstack GPS app from Cydia (worth $5).
  3. Turn off Bluetooth from your settings.
  4. Select the app and wait till it locates a external GPS device.
  5. Once done, let it Pair.
  6. Once done, it will accurately show your location and the data will start flowing in.

Now you can get out of that app and run other apps which require location Data. It will be carried forward by the app itself!

YouTube turns 5 with a massive TWO BILLION Views per day!

Happy Birthday Youtube! You turn 5 today and this is yet another milestone in YouTube’s journey. This day, five years back was special to someone who started a website so that they could share videos in his garage. Today they have servers to fill in thousands of garages with enough media, if played together could last for more than 1000 years!

YouTube has changed the way people consume digital video with HD and 3D technologies. Along with that, we have citizen reporters, YouTubestars who are amazing musicians and got a chance to showcase their talent to a huge audience. In a word, It’s “amazing”.

And And, they’ve also started a channel My Youtube Story Project where the users are uploading videos as how YouTube changed the way the do things! Feast your eyes on it here.

Apple developing the Technology of Future for your iPhone?

To add to the upcoming patent wars (hopefully from Nokia and HTC), we have Apple publishing as many as 16 new patents covering mobile technology. They possibly could be breakthrough in the way people do things, everyday.

This patents which arrived at the US patent office yesterday suggest the evolution of a new kind of feature in your iPhone. Remember old days, Technology was related to WHAT. Today, it’s related to WHERE. Geo-location tagging, Augmented reality and apps with support from them pouring into app stores probably provoked Apple too.

Just imagine, if you just walk into a restaurant and you get the Menu on your iPhone directly? Or, suppose you go to Library and you get the whole database downloaded to your iPhone in a second? Well, thats the plan at Cupertino’s notorious office. They are going deeper into location based services and this could be a feature in the future iPhones.

This simple, you thought rocket science huh? As soon as the device enters the WiFi Hotspot range, the location data (latitude, longitude, direction, etc.) is calculated and is communicated. Once the location of the device is approved, all the data from the content delivery network is downloaded on your Device. Neat.

Commercially, scope is wider but educationally it’s more wider than we can imagine. This technology could even possible reduce the load of books or maybe those bulky laptops? Mr. Nerd, no more carrying hot girls, books home. Instead, repairing iPhones!

Google all set to pull the plug off the Nexus One Online Store

Now getting a Nexus One  via the web will become a history. Google has just announced that it is all set to pull the plug on the Nexus One web store and that it will concentrate more on selling the phone via retail and carriers.

“While the global adoption of the Android platform has exceeded our expectations, the Web store has not,” Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google, wrote in a blog post. People generally want to know more about the product by getting hands on experience. When selling the phone via carriers , the customers will get to know the wide variety of plans available and choose the one which suits them.

Google launched the product in early January and people could purchase it online at www.google.com/phone. There were reports about the slow sales via the web, which could be seen as the reason behind such a step.

On April 30, Vodafone became Europe’s first carrier to sell the Nexus One. Google said Friday that going forward, it will follow this model rather than Web sales. ”We’ll shift to a similar model globally,” Rubin wrote. Once the magnitude of sales through retail rise, Google will certainly put a halt to the web sales.

This was a much expected and needed step from Google. Nexus One would stand nowhere if Google stuck to the online sale model and poor sale figures reflected the fact on those revenue charts. While Android devices are on the rise, lets see what the big “G” has got in store for marketing when Big Daddy’s like iPhone rule the market!

Mark Zuckerberg: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard

Mark Zuckerberg: Just ask.

[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How’d you manage that one?

Mark Zuckerberg: People just submitted it.

Mark Zuckerberg: Dumb fu**s.

What you read above was a part of IM conversation between Mark Zuckerberg (Facebooks’ Founder and CEO) who was some 19-ish at the time of chat and his friend.

Facebook is the fastest growing social network with already users more than 400 Million present. What else would you expect? Privacy Crisis, probably yes – no. With that kind of stuff above, do you think this youngster is capable of driving Facebook into the right direction but currently it’s turned towards a great downfall coming right up if it’s privacy concerns aren’t addressed immediately.  Seriously, can you trust this guy with your privacy?

Hell, with that kind of CEO attitude I see Facebook going nowhere. Good Luck.

Chrome OS to show up on Acer devices in 2 weeks

Chrome OS, when announced took over the web with a storm and it’s model appeased the needs of the techie people, who were searching for some fresh computing technologies.

The whole cloud thingy, it looks real neat and the news is that Acer will be displaying it up, running on it’s netbook at Computex Taipei show from June 1 to June 5. The OS isn’t ready to hit the markets as yet and launch is far away now. Well, Acer has plans for having netbooks running on Android OS too and both the OS’s come from the same maker, Google.

Most intriguing thing right up is the netbook sandwich of Android OS and Chrome OS. We’ve heard from multiple manufacturers, they’ve been fearing up to launch netbooks with ARM and nVidia Tegra 2 processors and will feature Android and Chrome OS. What is Google’s plan? Have it’s own products compete with each other or merge them in future?

iPhone 4G coming to AT&T this June?

What we are seeing hints that iPhone will be releasing this June. Why you ask? We’ve got a little piece of information, AT&T which is iPhone’s official carrier seems to pull back the upgrade eligibility dates. Users noted that instead of the end of the year, it’s been pulled back to end of June. June is the month where every year, Apple draws it’s curtain off the new iPhone and upgrades.

In short, instead of begging it just wants you to pay and get the freaking iPhone 4G.

Here’s a picture of the upgrade page from MobileCrunch.

While those who are eligible for upgrade get hands on the new device for a little less cash. None of the companies, Apple or AT&T, have made any official announcements regarding this matter. Confused?

So , why is AT&T doing this? It could be perhaps, iPhone may become available for more carriers following this launch, so probably AT&T wants to rope in as many customers possible. Another reason, they don’t want to lose their current customers who are tired lamenting of AT&T’s amazing service (yes, i am being sarcastic).

But for now, those who are eligible will get a shot at the new iPhone for sure!
