Facebook chat not working? : It’s fixing a massive privacy hole!

Few moments back, we’ve been reported, the presence of a massive security hole in Facebook. The hole affects all users and threatens privacy. Within few clicks anyone can view your live chats, notifications, requests, etc. and this is extremely pathetic and embarrassing for people.

Facebook’s new preview feature to check out your profile virtualizing yourself to be anyone of your friend makes all their ‘stuff’ visible to yours and vice versa!

Here’s a video of the hole in action.

Update : Facebook has disabled chat to fix this hole.

Update : Facebook’s official statement (Via Techcrunch)

For a limited period of time, a bug permitted some users’ chat messages and pending friend requests to be made visible to their friends by manipulating the “preview my profile” feature of Facebook privacy settings. When we received reports of the problem, our engineers promptly diagnosed it and temporarily disabled the chat function. We also pushed out a fix to take care of the visible friend requests which is now complete. Chat will be turned back on across the site shortly. We worked quickly to resolve this matter, ensuring that once the bug was reported to us, a solution was quickly found and implemented.

Update : Facebook chat is recovering!

RIM BlackPad to give Apple iPad a Facelift?

Remember the Apple iPhone Vs. Blackberry storm? Ah, storm lost terribly, Design (though some say it won), OS, and the huge comparison between app store.

If reports are to be believed, Research in Motion (RIM) which is blackberry’s parent company has ordered 8.9″ display screens from producers, Hon Hai. This proves the probability of another tablet in the coming. After a huge trail of iPhone Killer posts, time has come for so called iPad Killer posts!

Sources claim that the tablet has been codenamed BlackPad or Charcoal and it would be equipped with complete Blackberry OS compatibility and functionality. The device is currently in just prototype development phase, and thus its surely not going start to ship before next year when iPad two rumors would be raining.

Blackberry overcoming the iPad could be lot of hard work, especially with the huge bounty of Apps trapped in Apple’s app store but if RIM has got that sensational touch, it might overthrow the iPad. No matter what it is, it will surely give customers some fresh concepts (hopefully!) and not another iPad rip off!

Adobe boasts Android tablets with Flash and Air running “flawlessly”

While Apple just chucked Adobe from their plan, Adobe is busy showcasing tablets with Android running Adobe’s technologies at it’s heart, Flash and Air at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.

Prototypes of tablets running Google’s Tablet OS, Android which is currently in pre-release form but it’s well enough capable to render flash and air. They spotted those tablets using the Wired Flash app and watching videos on youtube, in flash format. They claimed that during all the showtime, they did not stumble across any problems and performance issues.

Many more tablets running on Google Tablet OS supposedly hit the market during the holiday season if a Adobe employee is to be believed. Flash is coming to smartphones soon, yes we know “soon”.

Why crop screenshots, when you can directly embed tweets into your webpage?

The micro blogging service Twitter has rolled out a new tool that will let users to embed tweets into their blogs or websites. Black Bird Pie , is a tool provided by twitter that asks the users, the link of a tweet and and upon hitting the  ”Bake It” button you will be provided with a full fledge ready to embed tweet and the code you need to fit it in your webpage.

Why would you prefer Embedding Tweets than actually taking a screenshot and posting? First of all, the biggest advantage is that whenever you embed a tweet, the tool recognizes your webpage styling like font family and tags from CSS and appy the same formatting on the tweets. Next all, It also copies over whatever background a person uses on Twitter. So in that regard, it is just like taking a screen grab. Well, its simply just like pasting a crop-shot of the actual page with all working links, images, etc!

Here is a screenshot of the tool :

Nokia N8 : Was it too l8?

Nokia’s shining with it’s latest device, N8 which managed to reach upto the expectations of Bloggers. It’s got awful lot of features trapped inside that shady looking device.

I think the only reason why i would ever buy the device would be the camera. It’s got 12 Megapixel (though it does not affect the quality much) and a much larger sensor compared to the rest of the mobile camera lineups. It’s got 720p HD recording, Xenon Flash and has awesome set of image editing tools. It has a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen with complete support for mulitouch, the pinch and zoom feature permitted in the browser and image galleries too.

Symbian^3 is not some great deal of innovation with 3 home screens with organizable widgets but the only factor that makes it a winner is the speed unless stuffed with data on the flash chips which later turn menu’s sluggish. The battery life is “way” better than the rest of the Nokia lineup and supports music playback upto two days!

It’s got a HDMI adapter too which attaches itself to your home theatre to provide a jolly experience while watching videos. The phone is also the first to support Dolby Digital Plus which makes it a rockstar if you are looking for a media phone. N8 pulls television content from providers like CNN, Paramount or National Geographic and the quality is decent enough. It’s running on 680MHz with 256 mb of Ram. Few Videos with Nokia N8 below.

iPad 3G : iSend Text Messages too

Sushi Time Everyone. The iPad 3G sends text messages too. The iPhone Dev team has done wonders yet again for the latest iPad 3G and jailbreak team is working vigorously towards more possibilities.

We don’t know how have they done it nor does it look ready for public release as it lacks a GUI. We tag it as work in progress. We’ve got a video too where they manage to send text messages to an iPhone using Terminal (The dark black thing with white text flashing). I just wish, they release the app for it soon! Video Down below.
