GoDaddy CEO kills elephant and boasts cruel video : Twitter lashes back

If the board of directors at GoDaddy inc. (Domain and Hosting Company) are planning to lay off someone, it’s surely got to be the CEO, Bob Parsons. Why?

He smartly killed an elephant and shot a video. Posted it online for the world to see. What’s even worse is that he appears quite happy and poses over the dead elephant, victoriously. He’s even included the part where the africans rip apart the flesh of the elephant and a stampede for it. This is ridiculous and disgusting, especially for me the fact being that I am a pure vegetarian.

Twitter is lashing out on the poor CEO and leaving no opportunity to make up for his mistake. I guess, he actually deserves it.

What PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) says,

I am writing to present you with PETA’s first-ever scummiest CEO of the year award (your certificate is on the way). You deserve the award for your egregious disregard for the life of the elephant you shot and killed for your personal enjoyment. Such behavior only shows a poverty of understanding and a deep insecurity, perhaps in your own masculinity. Nonlethal methods are available to protect crops from elephants left hungry because of their disappearing habitat.

What Bob Parsons replies in defence,

I stand by my decision to help African villagers. I believe elephant management is beneficial. I have the support of the people who really matter in this situation, the families of Zimbabwe — people who need help to survive. I have the support of tribal leaders and the government.

Can Heartbeat Be Used To Charge Gadgets?

Guess what?  If your iPod or Cellphone is running low on battery and you can’t manage to find a power point to charge it? In the coming years, you will be able use body movements (heartbeats, walking movements, etc.) to charge them! But if you are in such a condition in near future, continue your search for the power point.

Dr. Zhong Lin Wang and his team of researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed tiny “nanogenerators” that use small movements to generate enough power to charge phones and other gadgets.

At the National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, Wang’s team demonstrated the awesome device by using it to power LCD Screens and even transmit a radio signal.

Wang said, “This development represents a milestone toward producing portable electronics that can be powered by body movements without the use of batteries or electrical outlets.”

Wang says that if the nano-generators are in clusters they could possibly generate a good amount of electricity which can have larger applications in lief.

Nanogenerators vitality lies with the zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires — “piezoelectric” gizmos that can generate an electric current when strained or flexed. These could hit the store in the next 5 years.

The Question of the Millennium : Xbox Kinect or PlayStation Move?

Competition is heating up in the gaming zone. But the eternal question is, shall I go for Xbox Kinect or PS 3 Move? Both are equally appealing and offer varied games and gameplay options. So which one is actually better?

I’ve had my friend who bought PS 3 Move over Xbox Kinect. He’s got some reasons to tell you why. Here’s Nikhil, take over.

There are so many options for 3D gaming today that it has become difficult to choose what to buy. XBOX Kinect and PS3 Move are all very good but they have pros as well as cons.

Lets start with XBOX Kinect. It senses the direction in which your body moves and thus is very advanced but the single main problem with it is the absence of button(s). It brings down the agility with which you perform the moves and also brings down the variety of moves that you can perform. Moreover, it’s quite slow at recognizing your actions. You also need to be fit in order to use it as your whole body needs to be used while gaming with it. Another big problem is that you require a large drawing room, a minimum of 2-3 feet distance between you and the kinect sensor for a good gameplay experience.

Playstation Move on the other hand is much like Nintendo Wii. It is much more accurate than XBOX kinect but then the main problem with it that you can only use your hands for 3D gaming. So games like football cannot be played in 3D using a PlayStation Move but when it comes to shooting games like killzone or sports (except football), PS Move is certainly the best. The T button which is in the back of PS Move is also very useful. The buttons are in comfortable positions which make it better then Wii. There is a large variety of  games available for Move compared to Kinect. So Happy 3D Gaming with Move!

So  PS Move is what you should preferably buy as it gets the upper cut due to higher accuracy and better gameplay. What do you guys think about it?

Experience extra gaming moves with Playstation 2 games and wireless game controllers for precision.

OverView and Verdict

The laptop looks dead fine and the laptop is pretty lightweight so is more of a traveler’s laptop than a high-end user’s laptop. This is somewhat Apple’s MacBook Air competitor in the line. Low end models are worth a try, or else I would prefer MacBook air over the high end models as both have nearly a same price.

Amazon unleashes Cloud Service before Google or Apple

We’ve continually heard that Apple (After acquisition of Lala) was looking forward to launch a Cloud based locker service which would align itself with iTunes.com or maybe MobileMe. Rumors were that Google was also planning for something like this. Suddenly, out of the blue we have Amazon which unleashes the Cloud Drive and a Cloud based Music player too.

So what is Cloud?

You’ve been hearing about this since few years. What is it exactly?

“Cloud computing refers to the provision of computational resources on demand via a computer network.” – From WikiPedia.

Cloud Computing revolves around around data. It’s not physically with you but on the “Cloud” servers and you do not mandatorily need your computer to access it but varied types of devices for example, Your smartphone or tablets can also access the data using appropriate applications. This makes it easier to access data quickly from different devices.

What is Amazon offering?

It’s offering a cloud drive with 5GB worth of free space to upload and store your media (Music and Videos) and documents safely. All you need is a Amazon Account which is free and a browser to access the website and push content up or download it to other computers. They are offering tools to make your migration to cloud much easier. Once such tool scans you computer and auto-uploads all the music files to the cloud drive.

You can upgrade your plans. Well, pricing is $1 per GB. Yes, that simple.  It doesn’t work on iOS but works on Android based devices. The service is surely better than the competitor DropBox which does not allow such flexibility as Amazon. There’s some cool offer going on which lets you buy a MP3 album and upgrade to 20GB plan.  Give it a try here, it’s surely worth it.

A world where everything is done using iPhone Apps [Video]

After the Software and DotCom explosion, the next one is undoubtedly the App explosion. The best part? Apple’s iPhone is already leading the trail with Billions of App downloads and hundreds of thousands of Apps in the store. If you recollect, there had been few commercials, “There’s an App for that” from Apple for iPhone 3G.

Future isn’t far where there will be an App for almost everything 30 years down the line. Whatever be it, it’s cool to imagine it. Check the video down to see it in-video.

Microsoft plans to land Mobile Payments to Windows Phone

Microsoft is next to join the league for the mobile payments after reports about Android and Apple’s iPhone getting the NFC Technology hit the web.

Sure, Microsoft is busting all the ammo they’ve got to retain their market share of 5.5% in the Mobile OS market with Google’s Android having 39.5% and Apple’s iOS having 15.9% and RIM’s Blackberry having 14.9%. [Stats from Bloomberg]

NFC (Near Field Communication) is in the news for quite some time. In layman’s words, it’s somewhat like waving your mobile phone at the cash counter and paying your bill amounts. It’s got lot of potential as we see, $32 Billion was the revenue from Mobile Payments last year. This is what drives all the industry biggies crazy. It is expected to reach about $240 Billion by 2014.

Microsoft and Nokia had recently teamed up and Nokia and had declared to embark on Windows as it’s future OS. Nokia also stated that they would be throwing NFC enabled phones this year in the market. So, you can make out some connections from these and further predictions are that we will be seeing Microsoft NFC enabled phones early this year. This latest piece of technology could be a breakthrough and possibly would increase consumer spending via Mobile. [Picture Credit : Geek.com]

What’s the net speed at Google’s campus?

Quite a few years back, we were stuck at 56kbps dial-up modems, then we slowly picked up with broadband and triband coming and speedometers touching 256kbps and 512kbps. The battle then began between telecom companies which brought in 2mbps and 4 mbps at cheaper rates. Of course consumers thought it was a bliss, till they see this.

For those of you really eager to know what’s the speed at Google’s Campus, GooglePlex at Mountain View, California is then here you go.

523.96 Mbps and 147.20 Mbps is what they’ve got. Wondering how we got hands on it? Recent Question and Answer session by the Google Chrome team at Reddit let us into these facts. This is freakin’ awesome. Thanks TNW.

.XXX domains make it to the web but not India

If you’ve been in the roll, most controversy surrounded domain .xxx got approved this week with lots and lots of complications and mixed reviews from all around the world.

India’s IT ministry has decided to block off all the .xxx domain’s right away after their release. India has constantly been trying to block porn in India, punishing porn viewers and publishers all over the country.

Two things, it’s good that .xxx could be a way to segregate all the porn and propose a “red-light” area online and just keep it away from the rest of the internet. Second thing is that even the the website, with a .xxx which isn’t a porn website will get blocked. That is sick, what if someone wanted a fancy name with xxx’s? Like for example, thefileswhichsaid.xxx or whatever?

From what we are hearing possibly many other Asian countries like Indonesia are planning to follow India’s move. Well, frankly I don’t think its really going to make any difference because the porn industry already is aware of such steps and that .xxx would merely be an additional name as they will continue operating on .com domains until ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers which manages Internet Protocols) makes it mandatory for all porn websites to shift to the new domain (which it wouldn’t).
