Few days back, Google flaunted it's new design to it's 286 Million daily users. Guess what most of them said? It's a copy of Bing, or some even said it's a copy of Yahoo!'s search engine. Bull S***.

Whenever some new product is released, critics compare it to other stuff on the market and just tag them as a copy of this and that. This seriously pisses me off.  Remember Apple Vs. Microsoft ten years back? Apple charged Microsoft of copying it's Graphic user interface and the mouse and there was something that Bill Gates quoted over it, that if a car has a steering wheel no company claims it as it's invention. This is what it is all about. Moving forward. No use comparing, because we know as long it's competition companies are going to strive even harder for innovation. You just pick up whats good in front of you and move ahead. This is a whole process or learning, improving, and getting better. I don't get it, why do people just say it's COPIED? Steve-o-phoebia?]]>

Yahoo!, the so called internet giant which is losing its vigor due to immense competition from Google and Bing. If you were following the recent news, you might know that Twitter made few bucks signing a deal with Google and Bing, allowing them to index the tweets. Lately, we also came across the fact that even Yahoo was indexing tweets from twitter, but there was no such deal. Yahoo! was just using the most famous -  publicly accessible API (Application Programming Interface). Here's what the news is. Twitter confirmed that they have partnered with Yahoo on their blog. According to this deal, Yahoo will index the public timeline from Twitter, second by second from all over the globe and will show relevant tweets in all their searches and portals. What more? Yahoo will make clients for twitter to make tweets directly from anywhere on the Yahoo! network. It's no surprise that Yahoo still has 600 Million users which is no small figure.]]>

Apple Vs. Google war couldn't have got more bigger. This time Apple is planning to remove google search from it's browser Safari and guess who would be taking it's place? Bing! Apple was planning to replace Google Maps and advertising marketplace with their own products and this time they aim to chuck out search also. Apple is supposed to be in talks with Microsoft to kick off Google as default search provider and let Bing take it on according to Business Week. This fight is just getting better and better. Apple won't loose out much if this happens, but possibly Google could loose quite a few million users, yes thats it. Via Engadget.]]>

Twitter in talks with Microsoft and Google http://www.etiole.com/2009/10/twitter-in-talks-with-microsoft-and-google/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/10/twitter-in-talks-with-microsoft-and-google/#comments Sun, 11 Oct 2009 15:20:19 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=2215

google_and_twitterTwitter has realized the value and worth of its huge collection of real time data and is looking to earn cash and revenue out of it. Search engines are the entities in which Twitter has expressed interests and rightly so. According to a report from All Things Digital, Twitter has held seperate talks with both Google and Microsoft. These talks are believed to have reached an advanced level.

What will be the likely deal

In simplistic terms, Deal  will involve acquiring License of Twitter's full feed and integrating it into the search engine for both Bing and Google.

What will Twitter gain out of it.

Twitter is likely to benefit from this deal in terms of Dollars (Cash) or revenue sharing or a combination of both.

What are Twitter's concern

Twitter has quite clearly stated that it wants to keep its independent status. Also the popular micro blogging network wants to remain nonpartisan in the ever growing search battle between Microsoft and Google.

Why Bing’s image search is superior to Google’s service : Feature by Feature http://www.etiole.com/2009/06/why-bings-image-search-is-superior-to-googles-service-feature-by-feature/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/06/why-bings-image-search-is-superior-to-googles-service-feature-by-feature/#respond Fri, 05 Jun 2009 19:22:39 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=835

Bing has created a lot of hype in the Blogosphere. I am not adding to it's hype but i am just highlighting one simple feature which while give you a reason to make a shift from Google to Bing. [caption id="attachment_837" align="alignright" width="100" caption="Bing Image Search"]Bing Image Search[/caption] Google's image search is one of the most famous and oldest image search engines. But now Microsoft's Bing come's to Wack off Google search with it's superior features. Bing Provides users to select image size including wallpapers  which Google does not provide. Along with that Bing also provides users to select the type of layout like Square, wide or tall which seems to be missing in Google.  Bing Search Features Now coming to other features it's the Style Tab where users can select wether they want a Photograph or a Illustration :) This features a very useful one for students! And last one is The People tab where you can select if Bing should show Faces, or head and shoulders. Now Google Really needs to work on it's Image search to provide more features or else Bing is going to take it away!]]>

Microsoft Gears up to kick off Google with Bing! http://www.etiole.com/2009/05/microsoft-gears-up-to-kick-off-google-with-bing/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/05/microsoft-gears-up-to-kick-off-google-with-bing/#comments Thu, 28 May 2009 19:31:22 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=807 Recently we had posted about Microsoft planning for a 100 million dollar campaign for it’s brand new search engine, Bing.

Bing, as it’s name says – “Because It’s Not Google”. Bing comes geared up with features which Google was not able to provide users with. In one of the Offer’s Microsoft will pay it’s searchers for buying products via Bing. Another great feature is the Airline fare calculator which make’s it easy for people to find when the air fares will remain low.

Bing, has given a reason to all the Googler’s why they should shift to Bing and it’s Simplicity. Bing is a search engine which provide very organized search results.

Telling you we found 47 million links isn’t always a great response to your query

Bing will get more targeted results for users and help them save time and along with that they will be able to gain much more than just information but knowledge too via Maps and many other interactive modes. For People who shop online Bing will be the best place to look out for goods because Bing will provide searchers with complete products reviews, Ratings and will help you compare prices easily.

For Restaurant goers, Bing is for you. Just type type of restaurant, for example “French Restaurants”, Bing will quickly give you the location, reviews of the restaurants and so on.

Bing will be released on June 3rd. Till then you can go and check out their website on DiscoverBing.com.
