Digg, one of the most Buzzing Social Bookmarking service recently Rolled out their New Advertising Model, Sponsored Diggs. It has been released to small set of users, and then slowly it will propogate into all user accounts. It's Pretty Simple how it works. There are various ad placements where you will be viewing Stories with a Digg Submit Button and the will be marked as sponsored ads. So if you Digg it the Advertiser will have to pay less for the ads, but if you bury it then the advertiser will have to pay more and if it is buried many many times, it will be kicked out of their Ad inventory. Picture 2 Well, i think this is would work quite better because this would be completely user controlled. If people like it will be viewed more, if many people don't like it, You can give it a GoodBye Bury.]]>

Commenting System Disqus launches version 3 http://www.etiole.com/2009/08/commenting-system-disqus-launches-version-3/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/08/commenting-system-disqus-launches-version-3/#comments Thu, 27 Aug 2009 06:56:46 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=1590

Yesterday, advanced commenting system Disqus announced the release of the Version 3 of its product. The biggest change is the separation of the Disqus system into Disqus Profiles and Disqus Comments. Disqus Profiles is intended for the people who comment on various sites using the Disqus system. Disqus Comments is intended for the publishers who install the system on their site/blog. The new version introduces many changes to the cohttp://www.etiole.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=1590mment system:
 • A new theme (named 'Narcissus'):
Narcissus
 • Real time updating. This means that the page doesn't have to be reloaded to show new comments. This is similar to JS-Kit Echo.
 • Faster Social Media Reactions. Reactions from other services such as Twitter, FriendFeed and Digg also show up on the page itself.
 • A new moderation panel which makes heavy use of AJAX and is simply awesome:

moderate

 • New filters and tools which provide advanced control.
 • A new settings panel:

settings

However, what's really new is the Disqus Profile:
 • The profiles now have vanity URLs, i.e. public profiles can be accessed by going to disqus.com/'username'. For example mine is disqus.com/sjdvda.
 • A new redesign like the rest of the service:

dprofile

 • A 'connections' panel where additional services(Twitter, Facebook, OpenID, etc...) can be added:

connections

 • The ability to import comments that were written when you were not logged into your Disqus account.
Bottom line: Disqus V3 features many changes, is more aesthetically pleasing and works better under the hood. I use it on my personal blog and I'm quite excited about it. I'm glad I switched from IntenseDebate some months ago. :) You can read the official announcement on the Disqus blog.

Twitter is Transforming into a link Sharing Tool : Digg, Stumbleupon better get ready! http://www.etiole.com/2009/03/twitter-is-transforming-into-a-link-sharing-tool-digg-stumbleupon-better-get-ready/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/03/twitter-is-transforming-into-a-link-sharing-tool-digg-stumbleupon-better-get-ready/#respond Sat, 14 Mar 2009 10:49:00 +0000 http://lipoliticpress.wordpress.com/2009/03/14/twitter-is-transforming-into-a-link-sharing-tool-digg-stumbleupon-better-get-ready/

I don't know if many people know this or not but the true fact is that Twitter which was meant for Posting your personal Updates is now slowly transforming into a link house.

So here's what i did To prove that Twitter is becoming morever becoming a link-sharing tool.

What i did :

1.) I opened the twitter's public timeline and observed. I found that every 3rd tweet has a link. I refreshed the page more than 60 times so all the time i saw new tweets from new tweepl.

linkhousetwitter

2.) I went to Twitter Search and searched for http and the results i got were amazing. And with what speed they were updated were zooom..... More than 3100 Link Updates per 30 seconds. You yourself can try but you will find that the number will be different because of the time zones all over the world.

linkspeed

The Fact is true. I think that people are forgetting that twitters actual purpose is for people to post their Personal updates. Well, posting links is not wrong but i think that twitter may replace Stumbleupon, Digg , Reddit and others in Future.
