HTC today at the Mobile World Congress, threw many Android phones into the wild and one of them being Desire. It's not something revolutionary but it is a promising device though.

Desire is a "smart" looking smartphone and it is possible that you could have read these features earlier in the Google Nexus One review too. This gadget is equipped with Android 2.1, a 3.7 inch AMOLED Screen (480×800 pixel resolution), 1 GHz SnapDragon chips, 512MB ROM and 576MB of RAM, GPS, WiFi and tons of other same features as Nexus One. It carries a 5 Megapixel camera with Autofocus and Flash too. This device also brings native flash support 10.1. The one most distinguishing feature in Desire which sets it apart from Nexus One is lack of trackball in the front and Desire features a Sense UI. The Sense UI gives the existing Android a WebOS like feel. It divides the screen into widgets and Multiple side-scrolling homescreen panes and draws live contents from Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.]]>

What next? HTC tablet to appear at CES 2010? http://www.etiole.com/2010/01/what-next-htc-tablet-to-appear-at-ces-2010/ http://www.etiole.com/2010/01/what-next-htc-tablet-to-appear-at-ces-2010/#comments Sat, 02 Jan 2010 08:46:53 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=3582

It's back again. The tablet rumors just don't stop coming up. Apple's rumored tablet "iSlate" has got enough buzz needed to get other manufactures back to the race. The funniest thing is that no official confirmation has been made regarding the mysterious Apple device but people just don't stop talking about it and even predicting future sales, etc. Current rumors suggest that HTC is also planning a tablet computer which will run on Android OS along with Qualcomm manufactured processors and that it will be showcased at Consumer Electronics Show 2010 (CES '10). This could be possible because mobility now relates itself to portable computing and so tablets could be something at which all the top manufacturers could be eyeing at.]]>

HTC has unleashed its most popular mobile phone HTC HD2 in India. This means you can enjoy the cool and sleeky looking handset from the Taiwanese cell phone manufacturers instead of just reading and hearing about it. The handset is a powerful gadget since it is powered by a 1Ghz processor.

The Google Phone – Nexus One : Features and Design Review http://www.etiole.com/2009/12/the-google-phone-nexus-one-features-and-design-review/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/12/the-google-phone-nexus-one-features-and-design-review/#comments Sun, 13 Dec 2009 04:36:48 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=3365

gPhoneGoogle Employees started tweeting from a new "Google Phone". Rumors were already around and now its confirmed.  Google Employees all over the world have already got it form Google for testing purposes. Google confirmed this news too. The best part of it is that this mobile phone would be branded and unlocked by Google and sold all over. This could be the turning point.  When the internet giant which nearly rules the internet comes to  the mobile market you can hope for some tough competition to the existing brands!
We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.
Well, they aren't ready to share info about the phone officially, but who cares we still got it. It is rumoured to be named "Nexus one" and I really don't know what that means.   [caption id="attachment_3367" align="aligncenter" width="468" caption="Google Phone tweets"]Google Phone tweets[/caption]

Features

The OS is obviously Android 2.1 and hardware, as I said in the title, is made by HTC (I wonder, didn't they get any other better company? Just Kidding.) It's damn fast as it's got a "SnapDragon Chip" and graphics seem to be too good on a OLED touchscreen. It's got a onscreen keyboard! (iPhone, sigh.) One tweets from a Google employee says, "an iPhone on beautifying steroids" Maybe this one's a sexier version of iPhone or something. This Cellphone will be sold online by Google and as i said it's unlocked, so you will need to buy a carrier separately (This was happening in India since years, but finally Google also does it!) It's got a Voice to text feature so no more typing tweets or SMS but speaking it out and getting it down on your phone. I'll be waiting for this one though it's been said the phone would be out on mass production in January 2010. Pricing is not fixed but is estimated to be around $100-$200. How to run Google’s Android on HTC Windows Mobiles! (hack) http://www.etiole.com/2009/12/how-to-run-googles-android-on-htc-windows-mobiles-hack/ http://www.etiole.com/2009/12/how-to-run-googles-android-on-htc-windows-mobiles-hack/#comments Sat, 05 Dec 2009 16:52:09 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=3223

500px-android-logosvgFeeling sorry for Windows 6.5 which crushed all the expectations, similar to something what happened with Windows Vista. Now till windows comes up with something as good as Windows 7 for your mobile you would probably like switching to Android, Google's open source OS which powers Motorola's Droid ;) Here's a how you can do it.
  1. Format all that data on your HTC Windows Mobile so that, no problems later and you can expect better performance.
  2. Download Android for HTC from here. A complete package with Android for HTC.
  3. After downloading it's time to download HaRET. You need to download this app because this app will allow Android to run in the Windows Mobile environment and reboot as Android. Note : The Phone won't boot as Android on starting because it's dependent on this app.
  4. After Downloading all the files it's time to spread them over your external storage, unzip all the files on your external storage or internal storage in case of HTC Diamond. Be sure to unzip all the files in the Root Directory.
  5. Seems like your done with it. Ahem, i forgot that you should make sure that the Startup.txt is the one matching with your Cell Phone Model. The Default Package came with RAPH100 but you need to find out the exact code, just Google your model name to get it.
  6. It's time to enjoy stuff after hardwork! Start HaRET app from your Windows Mobile phone and wait for it to reboot as Android. There you go!
This hack only works with HTC’s Touch Pro and HTC Touch HD as well as HTC Diamond but you can try it out with other models and if it works your surely lucky enough! Thanks KongTechnology!]]>
