Apple's constantly lurching on the news headlines for something or the other. Yes, 9to5Mac had posted earlier about a possibility that Apple would revamp their retail stores and coming of a Apple Store 2.0. That's what exactly happened. Since Australia falls on the other side of the world, it got its refresh ahead of U.S launch. All the paper on the shelves is gone. All they have is their products and the iPads with a brilliantly built application exclusively for the retail stores to help customers. It also boasts a click to call a Apple Representative button which almost immediately gets you some aid. What they did is not more important than what this could possibly mean for the retail ecosystem. Till years, they've been practicing the traditional methods of Come, See and Buy. Making iPads fit in somewhere sure adds interactivity and ease of use while promoting the product itself. We will keep you updated on whether this change did really affect Apple sales or not. iPhone App by 17 yr old reaches iTunes Top Spot http://www.etiole.com/2011/04/iphone-app-by-17-yr-old-reaches-itunes-top-spot/ http://www.etiole.com/2011/04/iphone-app-by-17-yr-old-reaches-itunes-top-spot/#respond Fri, 08 Apr 2011 06:19:16 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=5274

Brandon Cowan, an Australian teen has developed an iPhone app, iParkedHere that helps users to mark the location where they have parked their car and it also remembers the parking time left for you. The idea is not so great but the amazing part is that it's No. 1 grossing app in the lifestyle category on iTunes! The developer is 17 and had made the app with his friend. The Application is available at a price of $1.99 and has created much buzz in the Australian App store. The Aussie developer said, "At the moment we are keeping the money in the company but I will probably be saving it for a house when I'm older" He also said that their company "Crazy Dogs Apps", last week signed an agreement with a Gaming firm to develop an app for it. He's obviously made much more than $100,000 with this app! Kids taking over the App Store?]]>

Steve Jobs wanted to create tablets ever since Apple’s Inception : Steve Wozniak http://www.etiole.com/2011/04/steve-jobs-wanted-to-create-tablets-ever-since-apples-inception-steve-wozniak/ http://www.etiole.com/2011/04/steve-jobs-wanted-to-create-tablets-ever-since-apples-inception-steve-wozniak/#comments Tue, 05 Apr 2011 13:54:45 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=5281

Sometimes, I feel sad because Steve Jobs takes all the limelight. Not just once, ever since. Always. Steve Wozniak, the infamous co-founder of Apple willingly takes the backseat. Years after his leave at Apple, at a keynote on Storage Networking World in Santa Clara, California he was questioned as how tablets could change the computer industry. I expected some sort of answer and he fulfilled my wish. He compared them to TV's. Moreover he called them, "It's for the normal people in the world".
I think Steve Jobs had that intention from the day we started Apple, but it was just hard to get there, because we had to go through a lot of steps where you connected to things, and (eventually) computers grew up to where they could do ... normal consumer appliance things
He even expressed his desire that Android tablets shall never surpass iPads. Why? Ofcourse, somehow the technology that powers iPad is the highly evolved version of the technology that Steve Wozniak had designed in 1980. The question that bugs most of people who follow Apple is that, Why did Wozniak ever leave Apple? Steve Jobs and Wozniak had different vision for the company. Wozniak was inclined towards the engineering side while Jobs was interested in running a business and a company. [Source]]]>

How much did people spend on tablets (iPads) in 2010? http://www.etiole.com/2011/04/how-much-did-people-spend-on-tablets-ipads-in-2010/ http://www.etiole.com/2011/04/how-much-did-people-spend-on-tablets-ipads-in-2010/#comments Fri, 01 Apr 2011 10:19:54 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=5136

Firstly, Analysts reported that 100% of tablet sales in 2010 consisted of iPads. Yeah, its quite an advantage being the first in the line to introduce tablets to the world. Number two is that the world had spent about $9.6 Billion on tablets that same year with $9.566 Billion going to Apple for iPad. Insanely Great. [Source] But Past is gone and Future awaits so the Real war will be in 2011 it is said sale of tablets may go up to $29.4 Billion this year. It is also being said Apple is going to grab 70% of the market this year. 2011 is surely going to be the War of the Tablets.]]>

Fresh from the rumors, we've heard Apple will be releasing the common OS to all its iDevices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) tomorrow. Numerous sources have pointed out. We all are excited for it. It brings Multitasking, Folders, GameCenter, Wireless printing and Television streaming (with Apple TV ofcourse) to all the devices and is the first 4.0 update for the iPad. It has also got some HDR improvement. Its free and rumors suggest its coming tomorrow, on the 9th. If not tomorrow then 12th November is also being speculated as the launch date as Apple will be releasing some network updates. Excited?]]>

BookArc for iPad : Where your iPad belongs http://www.etiole.com/2010/06/bookarc-for-ipad-where-your-ipad-belongs/ http://www.etiole.com/2010/06/bookarc-for-ipad-where-your-ipad-belongs/#comments Thu, 03 Jun 2010 17:36:44 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=4583

Here at Etiole.com we recently acquired a BookArc for iPad specially designed by Twelve South out of Charleston, SC. After a couple days of use we have come to one conclusion; the BookArc for iPad is where your iPad belongs. Not your hands, not your backpack, not even in a case, but resting on this beautiful piece of steel is the ideal. Ahead is a short review but theres not much to say other than this product is nothing short of amazing! Un-boxing Twelve South is known for their awesome packaging and how they've designed it to be reusable in a number of ways. Included are 12 ways you could reuse the packaging although there are countless ideas listed on their site. For now our box is resting on a shelf but we're determined to find a use for it that helps us and is good for the environment. Uses The BookArc for iPad can be used for a number of things. Your iPad can dock in portrait or landscape mode and be connected to the charger in both positions also. This stand is perfect for watching movies, listening to music, having a streaming email screen on your desk or just about anything. Other than being a means of adding more productivity to your iPad it also protects it. Scratching your aluminum back on your table, denting it with a corner or damaging it with a spilled drink can all be avoided when using the BookArc for iPad. What it does best The BookArc for iPad has proven to be a lifesaver when we've had to type long documents using Pages for iPad. Apple's bluetooth keyboard or a generic one paired with the BookArc for iPad gives you the functionality of a desktop when needed and can make your iPad experience that much more pleasurable. Overall we feel the BookArc for iPad is a must-have accessory and is very reasonably priced for what it does. It's also made out of heavy gauge steel so you know it will last forever. If your impressed run out to your local Apple store with two crisp Jackson's or order one via Twelve South's site here. ]]>

What we want and expect from Steve Jobs’ Keynote at WWDC 2010 http://www.etiole.com/2010/06/what-we-want-and-expect-from-steve-jobs-keynote-at-wwdc-2010/ http://www.etiole.com/2010/06/what-we-want-and-expect-from-steve-jobs-keynote-at-wwdc-2010/#comments Wed, 02 Jun 2010 06:00:23 +0000 http://www.etiole.com/?p=4539

As most of you already know Apple's annual WWDC has been confirmed for June 7th - 11th, 2010 at Moscone West in San Francisco, California. Every year since the first iPhone was released a new version has been announced at the WWDC. If you have an ounce of love for Apple products then your more than likely on your knees praying for an iPhone 4G to be announced in the coming weeks, I know I am.

Anyways, we here at Etiole.com are expecting WWDC to highlight the new iPhone 4G, the finishing touches of iPhone OS 4.0, a possible addition of a new iPhone supported wireless carrier, Verizon Wireless, and a slim chance of a Macbook Air refresh. Despite rumors of AT&T's exclusivity being good until next summer we believe there is a small chance Apple may pull a bunny out of a hat and surprise everyone, something Steve has been known to do.

With positive reviews of the iPhone OS 4.0 Beta pouring in we are predicting a fast release of the iPhone 4G and hopefully a closer date for the iPad software update. Well, thats it. I hope Apple will focus on the iPhone 4G and really create a hype, one even better than the original iPhone created back in '07.

If they succeed I may just have to reward myself with the shiny new device people are betting their farms on to be released. What are some rumors you'd love to see a reality and what do you expect to go down at WWDC 2010? Answer in the comments section!
