In the coming years, you will be able use body movements (heartbeats, walking movements, etc.) to charge them! Dr. Zhong Lin Wang and his team of researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed tiny “nanogenerators” that use small movements to generate enough power to charge phones and other gadgets.

At the National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, Wang’s team demonstrated the awesome device by using it to power LCD Screens and even transmit a radio signal.

Wang said, “This development represents a milestone toward producing portable electronics that can be powered by body movements without the use of batteries or electrical outlets.”

Wang says that if the nano-generators are in clusters they could possibly generate a good amount of electricity which can have larger applications in lief.

Nanogenerators vitality lies with the zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires — “piezoelectric” gizmos that can generate an electric current when strained or flexed. These could hit the store in the next 5 years.
