41 qualities a good twitterer should have! : Each tip is Below 140 Characters

Well right now i don’t think i need to introduce you to Twitter, the much talked about Micro-Blogging platform. So here are some tips to help you make so called tweets (Updates) super duper hit on twitter. Read on to make a Twhit (twitter + hit) tweet!

  1. Write acceptable content (to all communities, gender and so on)
  2. Try posting about lists as people like these too much
  3. If adding links try using reputable url shortening services so that people are more likely to click
  4. Try not to exceed your text limit over 120 to leave space for rt’s
  5. If your doing #followfriday try adding reasons as to why you should follow and not just @usernames
  6. You should start Rt’ing. If you want other people to rt please start Rt’ing other peoples tweets
  7. Try making more friends on twitter as this will help you when asking question and get attention of more people on twitter via @ replies
  8. Don’t keep on posting links over and over. People will think of you as a spammer
  9. Must use hastags as it helps to index your tweets for certain topic
  10. Reply to 50% of your @’s which you think are good. Don’t go behind replying to all or else your timeline will just consist of @’s but still theres no harm in doing it anyways :)
  11. Tweet at the right time. Probably you won’t be tweeting about your dog’s illness when Michael Jackson has died…
  12. Make sensible comments when commenting on other peoples tweet
  13. Try to add humor in every tweet of yours. It will help you, surely
  14. Try adding catchy headlines rather than using those old same repeated stuff to attract readers.
  15. Get a Cool Background for your Twitter Profile. 70% of the time, it does matter.
  16. Make your avatar related to things you mostly talk about, like if you’r self centered try adding your own picture! lol (Just Joking)
  17. Next come’s is the Profile. Don’t stuff it with those boring things. Add things which are Younique about you :)
  18. If your a Musician #musicmonday is the best day to let people around you know about the tracks you’ve created
  19. If you are a blogger never post links to your blog more than 7 times a day, or else your blog will gain a bad reputation!
  20. Once in a while try posting Funny Pics using tweetpic to your twitter account, it refreshes (F5) your followers :)
  21. Make your aim to make your followers ROFL, LOL, LMAO and so on.
  22. When posting quotes always make sure you add #quote tag or else people won’t be able to understand (It happens sometimes) that is it with your real life or something?
  23. Forget those advertising products for twitter which monetize your twitter account. No one on twitter wants that shit, please.
  24. Don’t ever go against what the twitter community is saying or else you’ll make a hell lot of enemies on twitter!
  25. Don’t be scared to ask help on twitter.
  26. As per the last point, always be ready to help others on twitter.
  27. Try supporting Charities online via various methods on twitter like the Twestival.
  28. Try to imagine yourself as a follower and then tweet it so that you can get a better understanding of it
  29. Be Good at Breaking the news, if you’ve done it your a hit buddy!
  30. Please, for god sake don’t criticize people on twitter, yes not even George Bush or any other company or else you might end up paying $50,000 for it!

  33. Try to give useful advice to users like if there’s a worm on loose on twitter try informing your followers about it
  34. When there are emergency situation please don’t add to the chaos but try to calm the situation down
  35. Control your tweet limit, dont tweet more than 7 times a day or 10 time an hour or else your tweets will cover up your followers timeline completely.
  36. Be careful regarding your privacy. Don’t give out info about what your doing every 5 minutes or it will land you into a big problem!
  37. Don’t tweet what your doing every damn second… tweet what you think others should know, is interesting.
  38. Please don’t Spam. Dont follow in large numbers as you might get your account banned!
  39. ok.. I am just reaching the end. Provide the users something they won’t get to know anywhere like if your from Mumbai tweet something what has happened in Mumbai, it will surely be loved by readers!
  40. Remember the Golden words – “Thank You”. Remember these, always!
  41. Use Emoticons like :-) , ;) :( , <3 and so on to express your feelings. It takes over more than just words!

The art of writing Catchy Tweets / Headlines

Tweeting is also an Art, something which come’s from within! Just kidding. But yes, writing catchy headlines is an art though which you should know especially if your a blogger or a marketer.

Here are simple things which i have noticed from Pro-Tweeters!

  1. Make it As short as possible. 140 Characters is a whole lot of place to include your content so try to make sure your tweet actually doesn’t cross more than 100 Characters because if you want Rt’s make sure you leave some place for the Credit given to tweeters.
  2. Make it Simple. Instead of writing – “Apple’s iPod touch may soon have a Camera” try writing it in a interesting way like “What? Will my iPod have a Camera?”
  3. Make it a more comment-able topic for people to find a reason, as to why they should retweet and make their comment on the link heard to the rest of the world.
  4. Make it Aggressive! If it’s a posting about a certain product then try to include it’s Competitor also into the tweet as this tweet will drag attention of people interested in your product as well as in the competitors!
  5. Finally, Wait for the time. Please don’t post your tweets at such times when the rest of the world is busy sleeping. Try tweeting when most of the world’s awake to get the most attention :)

Blogging seem to be a new thing buzzing up around (Atleast in India) :) and so it’s obvious that people do love to to pick up new thing, Experiment and try new things with it, Right?

Loads of bloggers start blogging because the have heard that you can make “Money” from it. Yes, i might find it funny but yes, this terms very popular and that becomes the main reason for people to start blogging.

Now comes the sad but true part of the story. 85% of the bloggers quit blogging after about a month with their blog and these people are all those people whose main aim is to Make money by blogging. It’s next to Impossible to start making money from your blog in less then one month, except some :)

So the root of the Problem is “Money”. Just a tip from me, Try Blogging because you like it, because you love the Topic and writing. Make money the secondary thing. Put all your hard work behind the blog and keep reading, Always as it does help you more and more things which will help you with your blog.

Moral of the Story is that Don’t keep the intention of making money…. Go ahead and write about what you love, your passion and you will succeed!

The Question which haunts most of the Bloggers – “When will my blog get famous?”  THe answer is much more simple than it looks. It will get famous only when you will work hard to make it famous.

Every Blog has “The Post”, which is just a single post and makes the Blog famous. So IF it’s tech news what your blogging and if you are able to crack the most unique new and your the first one to post about it you are on the way to success.

Now if you blog about Life and you wrote an excellent post about time Management and few bloggers came accross it like it posted about your blog post, digged it and so on… It’s Famous.

Another thing can happen. You wrote a post about the Craziest Celebrities and people liked it and you blog post appears on the first page of Digg, you are Famous.

Pratically Speaking that “One Post” can change the shape of your blog. If that’s famous obviously other people would love to read more from you so they will browse through your other posts and if it is Good enough they will even subscribe it.

Blogging Tips : Coming straight from a kid blogger!

Sometimes people are so web-traffic hungry that they are ready to anything in order to increase their ranking from Search Engine. But in midst of this do they realise that they are losing  so many loyal readers?

Like for example Mr X starts blogging on His life and slowly learns about Seo and then he goes on to write crappy posts containing nothing but just unique words. Now you can understand that either he wants many people to read his crap or he wants to make money from his blog.

It’s very difficult for a blogger to do both the things together. You can understand that it is not a very easy task, to cover all the unique keywords and also not Disturb you reader. I have also noticed that people have started just writing for search engines. Now every blogger must remember that if he goes on to increase rankings and also even if they increase hey won’t have a Good Readership because as soon as someone will land on that page he will exit.

You should remember that “Humans” have made search Engines and Humans use it. A little bit of Seo here and there is Good enough. Many people Blog using interactive presentations and Google is not able to index those presentation as Good as they index your Text , but another thing you will notice is that those people actually get more traffic than people who write plain text get. So this proves what i said in the above lines.

Blogging Is taking over Newspapers and other routes of News. You need to make sure whatever you write is completely true and most of all, that it shall benefit you reader. Another tip I want to give you is that whenever you is that when you write blog posts make sure that a Newie can understand it and at the same time an Expert can’t make fun of it and tell, “He has written “BullShit”.

And the most important thing to keep in mind while blogging is that Never Blog to Make Money but to blog for what you love. If you blog to Make money then like many, it will surely negatively affect your blog readership.

Blogging tips : Blog Quality not Quantity

blogging This is quite simple. Writing Quantity is never better than writing quantity. I have seen so many bloggers who after seeing engadget (which gets like over 30 posts per day) start blogging crap just to increase the number of posts.

Even Google Says that writing Quality is way better than writing quantity because sometimes your not just writing for the search Engines but you are also writing for your Readers, those who depend on your blog for their dose of info.

Don’t worry if you post just once a week, but if that’s quality i can assure you that you will get traffic. Well Traffic is not always that matters. Sometimes you blog for yourself, to satisfy yourself. You should understand that when you blog you are blogging only what you like and not being a hypocrite.

You might be thinking that this is not true but in case of most bloggers who are not that successful as compare to those guys who earn six figure income by blogging this is the truth. Sometimes this is a state of mind where you start comparing yourself with the pro’s without even thinking about current situation of your blog and you end up being nothing.

So keep it simple. Here’s the moral – “Blog Quality not Quantity” :)

blog_growthI have seen many blogs and noticed that many pro-bloggers have few things that they share in common. Every blogger has his own style of writing but there is one factor which contributes to the making of a successful blogger.

Like for Say Amit Agarwal who runs Labnol, The main reason he get’s traffic is as he breaks new fast. Yes. Become the first one to post about anything on the internet. This is the first step towards success. This helps you to increase in Google’s Rankings and also you can gain user attention which is most necessary for one blogger.

Another thing i liked was the style of writing and differentiating it into points and presenting it with Vivid Graphics, Charts, Graphs and other things. Here is will refer to Problogger . His style can make uninteresting posts interesting and this is what the main concept of blogging is.

Another blogger i like is Seth Godin. His style of writing is great. Well if you see all his posts on his blog you will find that he explains every sentence beautifully and this helps in building user confidence and that is another point contributing to the success of your blog.

Also one point which is true and is a major factor is that Content. You shall have Content in Mass. I know this might not be possible for everyone but it is true. If you don’t have large collection of content it may become a problem for you as more content = being included for more keywords = more clicks = more traffic

All these terms are quite related to each other but all this won’t work until you have the X factor. Yes. It’s the X factor which separates you from the rest of people around and that should become the reason why people read your blog.

I have been blogging for about 4 years but what i found was amusing. Why do people blog out hell to try and defeat their fellow bloggers when they both can come together and achieve the same thing in less time and with less effort. Why can’t people understand this simple effort? Common guys a 13 year old has understood why can’t you???
