3D HD recording coming to a Mobile Phone near you!

3D Camera Module3D’s all the fuss around, screens and camera’s. Good news is that it’s coming to mobile devices too. SHARP has developed a 3D camera module which is capable of capturing video in 720p (HD).

Perhaps this could be a game changer in the way mobile videos are shot and viewed. Samples get ready by July and mass shipping starts all in 2010. For all those who don’t know how 3D technology works, check out this infographic. Let’s see which cellphone gets it first? Perhaps the iPhone? :P

For more techie bits, run down the press release.

Sharp Corporation has developed a 3D camera module for mobile devices capable of capturing high-definition (720p*2) 3D video images, an industry first. Sharp will start shipping samples in July. Mass production of these modules will begin within 2010.

3D images are composed of two views taken using two cameras that simultaneously capture separate images for the right and left eyes. Consequently, a 3D camera requires peripheral circuitry to apply image processing to the two images, for example, to adjust color or to correct positioning between the images from the two cameras. Manufacturers have thus been pursuing designs that reduce the size and weight of 3D cameras and seeking ways to shorten their development period.

The current 3D camera module developed by Sharp incorporates functions to process the image data output by the left and right cameras, including Color Synchronizing Processing to adjust color and brightness, Timing Synchronizing Processing to synchronize the timing of the video signals, and Optical Axis Control Processing to correct positioning. In addition, Fast Readout Technology rapidly transfers video data from the image sensor, enabling 3D images to be captured in high-resolution HD mode. Further, in developing this camera module, Sharp applied high-density mounting technology nurtured over long years of experience in camera module development to achieve a compact form. Embedding this camera module in mobile devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones, and smartphones will contribute to the development of a wide range of new, innovative communications tools.

In the future, Sharp will be opening up new 3D markets based on 3D display technologies, including small/medium-size and large-size 3D LCDs, as well as on 3D input device technologies such as 3D camera modules.

Rumor : The iPad might get a inbuilt camera at launch

iPad missed the camera. That’s what we know from the announcement for now but Mission Repair doesn’t think so. They received shipment of iPad parts few days back and then they tear it down to show us the possibilities of the camera.

They show us the metal internal frames of the iPad  and they note the “spot” left for a Camera. Next what they try is that they remove a camera (iSight) from a unibody MacBook and try to fit it in the “spot” and to their amazement, it fits exactly!

The Camera fits in the place, the lens also goes into the hole and the LED indicator for the camera fits in too and ambient light sensor hole is just right. Shocking isn’t it? Even i can’t get the fact, and i think this can’t be possible as Apple rarely adds new features after they’ve announced. I think this could be possible in the next version or maybe a device for the corporate world (business ready version) which is more likely to happen after the device enters the market.

Sony’s Bloggie unveiled at CES : It’s not related to blogging though

Sony Bloggie? What’s this? Some sort of blogging software? or wait, a blogging gadget? Social Networking website?

What’s in store is nearly unguessable from it’s name. But frankly, how does the name matter anyway? Having a good name with worthless functions is of no use, but how about superstars coming with worse names?

Dah. Sony did it. This is the case with the new Sony MP4 + camcorder  Bloggie.

The product has got brilliance in design and intellectuality in mechanism. Its got excellency in sharing, capturing and uploading videos.

This is a true flip video competitor, and now maybe a iPod Nano competitor too! One of it’s biggest advantage is a Unique Swivel Lens (moves 270 degrees!) and a HD camera.

Pricing for bloggie is $199 with 5X zoom and $169 without the zoom. It’s got a complete integration with social media, facebook, twitter, youtube, picasa and so on. Also now you don’t need to use cables to connect your device to your computer, it’s got a inbuilt USB arm (a major life saver!).

Some of its Features are-

  • 1920×1080 HD camcoder
  • A 5 MP still camera
  • A high resolution MP4 player
  • A brilliant device for sharing photos and videos.
  • 2.4 LCD with full screen playback

Your mobile phone could have a 14.6 megapixel camera soon

Here’s some great news for people who have always cried over their poor cellphone photo quality. OmniVision, who provides image sensors for current iPhones and is rumored to provide sensors for iPhone 4G has recently unveiled a 14.6 megapixel image sensor.

OmniVision announced OV14825 (weird and a difficult name) ,the image sensor which would shoot 1080p video at a whooping 60 frames per second!

This sensor would go low on battery life and is prepared to consume the least of energy. This would go for mass production mostly quarter two this year. Lets see which phone gets it first!

iPhone 4g with 5MP camera or Apple tablet with a 7 inch screen?

Everything buzzing up. Rumours suggest that Apple is working on something. It maybe a larger, better iPhone with higher resolution or perhaps a Apple Tablet with 7″ Screen.

Let’s have a look over the possibilities,

iPhone 4G

Motorola’s Droid has a large screen along with Google’s Android 2.1. Lots of new features, especially the extra search features. Whoever said that, “Apple won’t ever add new features until it is forced by it’s competitors to do so” and so that goes true here.

iPhone OS 4.0

iPhone OS 4.0

Reports also confirm that OS 4.0 for iPhone also has been found in the wild by App developers under their statistics as in the case Pinch Media’s app.

5 Megapixel story stands true here because Apple had placed a huge order (40-50 Million) for Megapixel CMOS Image Sensors from Omnivision, the current provider for iPhone 3GS’s 3.2 Megapixel sensors.

iPhone 4G

iPhone 4G?

News is out that this new generation iPhone would be only shown at the January event but it will be finally kept on sale sometime later.

iPhone 4G is going to get a high resolution screen and a larger screen and as i said earlier, this is much needed or Apple will go BooHoo against the other competitors. Apple is selling large number of iPhone 3GS which is around 10 Million but this may halt down with competitors coming up with kickass phones, Palm Pre, Motorola Droid, HTC’s Droid Eris and many more!

Apple Tablet

Apple Tablet?

Apple Tablet?

This one may be near to reality than anything as BoyGeniusReport claims it that it has maximum chances to appear at the January Event.

This is supported by multiple rumours. First of all, Apple asking all it’s premium app developers to provide them with apps of higher resolution although this could also be the case of iPhone 4G.

While the rumors of a 10″ tablet was floating around, now it’s being said that its a 7″ tablet.

The tablet will be having a similar OS to that of iPhone and will be functioning exactly like it but with extended features along with better screen resolution obviously and few better apps, and maybe a front camera too which might bring Video conferencing finally to the device.

Finally

No one knows what maybe true. But i really want both of them to be true! Waiting…
