facebook_twitter_xbox_integration

Recently there was some rumor floating on the web, as to Xbox may get some Social Networking features, to it’s existing service.

Well, these rumors are true now, and have been officially confirmed by Microsoft while talking to MTV. What can you Expect? Twitter, FaceBook and Last.fm integrations.  This means, gaming along with Social Networking side by side is what you can expect in this Public Beta.

Sharing games your playing, checking out other users profiles, and status timelines could be the few of basic features available to the users. The update will be rolled out this month soon to some selected users, ahem ahem, i did say selected users.

Picture 11

Well, i know people have started joining facebook, just to play some games like Poker, FarmVille. I know this because my brother started doing so, and i receive tons of requests everyday!

Well, there is another game coming from the developer of Mafia Wars, Texas Poker and Farmville, Zynga. It’s Latest game called Café World which has broken all records. 0 to 10 Million downloads in just one week.

It’s quite amazing is, and if your thinking how did it manage to do it, then there it goes. Zynga has many apps which have got quite a million users and cross promoting, did it. Apart from that, using Facebook’s advertising platform. Well, and the best method is via the users, continuos requests (I receive tons of them daily, and i bet you receive too!) and posts on their profiles.

Here are the stats after the break.

FaceBook to get Redesigned soon : Pictures

Facebook got redesigned last time, at so it wasn’t surprising that many people started calling it Twitter – CopyCat :P because it got real time with the status. Then came Facebook lite, which i personally liked because it workds great with a 512KBPs connection as My ISP is too slow.

Well, it seems like another redeigned version of FaceBook is supposed to be coming out soon, with some improvements. FaceBook is currently testing changes with some users, the new News Feed and the “Top Stories” feature too.

Here’s what FaceBook’s Official Response,

We are currently testing different designs of the News Feed and the home page with select users. The tests help us understand if we can make it easier for users to balance both the most important and the most recent information from people they’re connected to.

Ok, Great. So what has been added? Actually, not added but the Update Status Box has been minimized into just one Small box called Update Status which on clicking shows the Box. Another Addition is the Top News Page. It Shows top Updates based on the Comments and Like’s it receives.

Here are some ScreenShots from the New Version [Via TheNextWeb]

Stay Healthy and Fit during the Social Networking Era : Useful Plans!

I spend about 4 hours online out of which i spend atleast 2 hours for Social Networking everyday. Now if at that rate i continue to sit in front of my Computer, i might end up accumulating a lot of fat around my waist and turn out to be unhealthy.

And it seems that this problem is being experienced by users all over the world. Not just physically but people mentally are also deteriorating due to these social networks, especially the survey which says FaceBook Lowers your College grades. We don’t need to prove that these surveys are true or false but the fact is that somehow these websites do harm our body.

Patrick has made a simple workout plan to equalize your Social Media Usage along with your health.

McDonalds joins the party of Chick-fil-A and Pizza as they too passed the 1 million facebook fans mark. At the end of last week, It had around 1.2 millions fans as it added around 250,000 fans on 26th August and 400,000 on August 28th respectively.

McDonald’s official page has been able to garner fans ranging in between 5000- 20000 per day for the month of August. Facebook goes through a few minor design changes

The Facebook team has made a few minor tweaks. These changes are more oriented towards the design aspect of Facebook. These changes which happen to be of minor nature do not affect the core and major functionality of facebook. The changes that have been made are:

  • Rounded rectangles have been replaced with square corner roots. This change comes after quite a debate was carried out in the Facebook Design team regarding the rounded rectangles and the squared corner roots.
  • One change which you  may have already have observed is  that the Blue colored Facebook Header now appears to cover the whole width of your screen. Also small changes have been made to the items within the header.
  • Language used for posting feedback on Facebook Ads has been changed. “Thumbs Up/ Thumbs Down” has been replaced with “Like/X”.

Commenting System Disqus launches version 3

Yesterday, advanced commenting system Disqus announced the release of the Version 3 of its product.

The biggest change is the separation of the Disqus system into Disqus Profiles and Disqus Comments. Disqus Profiles is intended for the people who comment on various sites using the Disqus system. Disqus Comments is intended for the publishers who install the system on their site/blog.

The new version introduces many changes to the cohttp://www.etiole.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=1590mment system:

  • A new theme (named ‘Narcissus’):

Narcissus

  • Real time updating. This means that the page doesn’t have to be reloaded to show new comments. This is similar to JS-Kit Echo.
  • Faster Social Media Reactions. Reactions from other services such as Twitter, FriendFeed and Digg also show up on the page itself.
  • A new moderation panel which makes heavy use of AJAX and is simply awesome:

moderate

  • New filters and tools which provide advanced control.
  • A new settings panel:

settings

However, what’s really new is the Disqus Profile:

  • The profiles now have vanity URLs, i.e. public profiles can be accessed by going to disqus.com/’username’. For example mine is disqus.com/sjdvda.
  • A new redesign like the rest of the service:

dprofile

  • A ‘connections’ panel where additional services(Twitter, Facebook, OpenID, etc…) can be added:

connections

  • The ability to import comments that were written when you were not logged into your Disqus account.

Bottom line: Disqus V3 features many changes, is more aesthetically pleasing and works better under the hood.  I use it on my personal blog and I’m quite excited about it. I’m glad I switched from IntenseDebate some months ago. :)

You can read the official announcement on the Disqus blog.

FaceBooks New Inbox Coming soon to your account!

Frankly Speaking, FaceBook inbox sucks. Well i think FaceBook had heard this from plenty of users including me :) FaceBook has earlier annouced that it will release new FaceBook Inbox Feature and now it’s going live for some users!

Well in the earlier inbox one used to click on any link which would take us to a new window but now instead of this it’s overlay. They have also added the Threaded Conversations feature :) so you can easily track your conversations unlike the older facebook where u would have to spend time clicking links and reaching the last reply.

Then another addition is the Filter. Now you can easily sort out between your Read and unread messages. Well this seems like its going more towards the other biggies like Yahoo, Gmail, etc. Also now what you see on the home page after logging in, the news feed the Inbox more ever seems like that!

Well, i still don’t think it’s perfect as many additions have to be made but this is one step closer to perfection!
