It’s very frustrating when we’re writing a reply to our friend on twitter and on posting we just see some damn 503 server error. It’s quite a big problem on twitter. I am not the only to say so. There are loads if users who are constantly complaining of twitters “Unexpected Downtime” as their Blog post Suggests. So when Twitter Stops, twitterers turn to facebook to express their feelings.

Even 10 Minutes of Downtime can create a huge problem for people who spend most of their time on twitter and find twitter as a way to keep themselves updated on what’s happening to their dear friends or some even waiting for Twitter to break news. And Now twitters become something like Water, You can’t go far without it!

Recently, Computer Emergency Response Team which works under the Department of IT (Information Technology) Warned users of a possible Virus named KoobFace.

This Worm is propagating all over social networking websites which are the new trend, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and so on.. This Virus spreads when a spammer sends you a link to a video which upon viewing downloads malicious softwares and then your computer goes bang.

Not only that, the Virus spreads from Computer to Computer and the fastest way being LAN ! It will show Pay Per Click ads to generate revenue or may steal sensitive data from your computer.

FaceBook Lite : Lighter version of Facebook!

Lot’s of Buzz being created about FaceBook, especially about FaceBook taking over FriendFeed. But FaceBook is upto something. And now with the entry of FaceBook lite, it surely does mean something.

Recently my friend told me that he saw something on his Login Page on Facebook after logging in. Here what it said :

We are building a faster, simpler version of Facebook that we call Facebook Lite. It’s not finished yet and we have plenty of kinks to work out, but we would love to get your feedback on what we have built so far.

WTF is FaceBook Lite??

Here’s a simple defination. FaceBook lite is a simpler version of the much Complex FaceBook. RIght now we know only this much, but as soon as we get more info it well get posted here.  Check out the Screenshot below. (click to enlarge)

It looks as if FaceBook is trying to Challenge Twitter especially with the real-time search. I think FriendFeeds takeover was the first step towards the destruction of twitter. I don’t think it’s that easy to kill twitter, but lets hope for the best!

Friendfeed has been facebooked : Yes, FriendFeed is a part now a part of Facebook

It’s official now, FriendFeed has been Taken over by one of the fastest growing social networks, Facebook. 

How does it affect me?

Well right now, there won’t be any difference between how FriendFeed is working, so you can log into your account as usual and the API will also work as it Earlier used to.

What’s new then?

Well in their blog post, friendfeed said that currently friendfeed will continue to work as usual but future plans will be integrating it with the 250 Million member community, Facebook.

Well heres a part of it from their press release:

Facebook today announced that it has agreed to acquire FriendFeed, the innovative service for sharing online. As part of the agreement, all FriendFeed employees will join Facebook and FriendFeed’s four founders will hold senior roles on Facebook’s engineering and product teams.

“Facebook and FriendFeed share a common vision of giving people tools to share and connect with their friends,” said Bret Taylor, a FriendFeed co-founder and, previously, the group product manager who launched Google Maps. “We can’t wait to join the team and bring many of the innovations we’ve developed at FriendFeed to Facebook’s 250 million users around the world.”

Latest buzz is that FaceBook users found that they saw updates from users who didn’t add them as friends but had sent a friend request for them too add.

This may be a precursor of the Twitter like Follow feature on FaceBook. It seems facebook is trying to become more like the new twitter especially after releasing the new version of Facebook with Real Time updates. FaceBook had promised us about this Follow Like feature some months back so maybe this is a part of it. Nothings officially confirmed so we are still waiting for their response.

I am getting bugged, any features anyone?

Bill gates huge Break-Up Facebook : Yes it’s true!

Bill Gates was recently at New Delhi for receiving the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development, for his Charity Organization. Well apart from this he spoke out that he he was quitting FaceBook.

Yes, It’s true. The reason is

There were too many friend requests. It had crossed over 10,000!

Well Bill has taken the right step, it’s nearly impossible to keep up with over 10,000 people! But if you really want to, then Bill please try twitter!

Bill also stated that he was “not that big at text messaging” nor is he a “24-hour-a-day tech person“.

Apart from that he also stated that

All these tools of tech waste our time if we’re not careful.

Very true, and that’s what i wrote in my last post! I hope so that a day doesn’t come when Bill might stop using Windows! :P

Well FaceBook has begun to catch Global Attention and Has grown double the size of MySpace. So do you think a Movie on FaceBook would be able to bring about the same madness?

The movie is Titled “The Social Network” and is about the story of Mark Zuckerberg (Founder of FaceBook) and how he created the worlds largest social networking platform from his Dorm. Aaron Sorkin has written the Script :) The Movie enters production this year.

Columbia Pictures is all set to take the challenge and is in talks with David Fincher (Director of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) to give him the Directors Seat. Well What do you think? Facebook releases its Persian version

Every one is quite familiar with the ongoing situation in Iran so are the tech companies. Tech companies have identifed this situation as an opportunity to gain the goodwill of Iran people by launching products in the native language of Iranian to help them communicate. On similar lines Facebook has launched its site in Persian language. Facebook casted a vote of thanks for all those who helped them in achieving this milestone. They stated:

We could not have made this happen so quickly without the more than 400 Persian speakers who submitted thousands of individual translations of the site. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. If you speak Persian or any language not yet completely translated, you can help as well by using the Translations application.
