Watch 3 Idiots legally on Youtube : Google getting into Pay-Per-View Business?

3 Idiots was a brilliant movie. If you have seen the movie then you would surely not forget that Google’s and Youtube’s logo were present during the start of the movie as Sponsors.

If you really don’t know why, then here is the reason. Vidhu Chopra, the producer of the movie in an interview said that users will be able to watch 3 Idiots legally on YouTube after 12 weeks from then.

Yes, you read it right. It said “Legally”. This is first ever attempt by a Indian Movie to offer legal movie views and downloads over YouTube. The producer said that this movie would be released on YouTube for those people who can’t afford to watch it in the Multiplexes.

For about $1 you get pirated discs of the movie too, so in an attempt to stop piracy this could also prove a massive step in eradicating it though, most of India’s traffic is Cyber Cafe traffic we are curious to find out the results as to how well this has worked out!

But the question is that will the movie be available for free or will it be paid? Also, since the producer in the interview mentioned that it’s for people who can’t afford MultiPlexes so will it be available to selective people after applying?

Nexus One Pricing Plans, T-Mobile Contract and lot more leaked!

Gizmodo and Engadget got hands on the leaked documents which show the Google Phone’s AKA Nexus One’s landing webpages.

So here’s what is reveals. Nexus One will be available at a price of $530 (unlocked and unsubsidized) and at a price of $179 with a T-Mobile contract which would cost about $79 which would include 500 minutes of talk time, unlimited text, data, and mobile to mobile.

If you try to cancel your contract before 120 days, you have to pay $350 to T-Mobile or you have another choice of giving back the phone to Google (Smart?). Personalization is one of the offerings which allow you to engrave two lines of text behind your phone (Exactly like what Apple does).

Also, you can’t add it to your existing T-Mobile plan and you need to go for a separate Nexus One plan. You can buy this Phone only via the web and 5 Mobile phones can be bought from one account.

Engadget also managed to get Terms of Sale in the PDF form, which you can download.

Google calls for Android press gathering on Jan 5 : Smells like Nexus One

Google has called all its press mates to gather at their California office on 5th January , 2010 for a press conference and discussion.

Put on your thinking hats. Obviously you might be thinking that this is surely related to Google’s Phone, Nexus One which is running on Android OS.

With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we’ve seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what’s possible.

Please join us in Mountain View on January 5, for an Android press gathering.

See, it didn’t take a lot of time to join the dots. Google is doing it Apple style, ha? This could be the public announcement of Nexus One features and specs, which were already leaked out by Engadget.

Looking for a perfect Christmas gift? Google has one!

Google_Gift

From fascinating and artistic youtube videos to creative television adverts, the Google Chrome browser is literally everywhere these days. Google has decided that it will leave no stone unturned in the publicity of the fast and sleek IE-killer and why not, after all its the backbone of the soon to be born Google Chrome OS.

As for the holiday season, the search giant has come up with a new breathtaking site which allows people to give the gift of Chrome.

The Chrome for Christmas site allows users to send greeting cards to their loved ones(or even strangers) with a gift i.e the Google Chrome Pokeball neatly wrapped in artistic designs to be chosen by the sender.

The sender can attach a photo and a video too along with a short message. The receiver gets a link which shows the Google Chrome logo popping out of the gift wrap in a funky way leading to a link to download Google Chrome.

This campaign is definitely avant-garde as far as browser publicity is concerned which itself might give the browser a lot of attention. There is also the plain old,Give the gift of Chrome site which allows users to gift chrome 365-days a year.

So,if you haven’t found the perfect Christmas gift yet, why not give the gift of Chrome to the frustrated IE users?

The Google Phone – Nexus One : Features and Design Review

gPhoneGoogle Employees started tweeting from a new “Google Phone”. Rumors were already around and now its confirmed.  Google Employees all over the world have already got it form Google for testing purposes.

Google confirmed this news too. The best part of it is that this mobile phone would be branded and unlocked by Google and sold all over. This could be the turning point.

When the internet giant which nearly rules the internet comes to  the mobile market you can hope for some tough competition to the existing brands!

We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.

Well, they aren’t ready to share info about the phone officially, but who cares we still got it. It is rumoured to be named “Nexus one” and I really don’t know what that means.

Features

The OS is obviously Android 2.1 and hardware, as I said in the title, is made by HTC (I wonder, didn’t they get any other better company? Just Kidding.)

It’s damn fast as it’s got a “SnapDragon Chip” and graphics seem to be too good on a OLED touchscreen. It’s got a onscreen keyboard! (iPhone, sigh.)

One tweets from a Google employee says, “an iPhone on beautifying steroids”

Maybe this one’s a sexier version of iPhone or something. This Cellphone will be sold online by Google and as i said it’s unlocked, so you will need to buy a carrier separately (This was happening in India since years, but finally Google also does it!)

It’s got a Voice to text feature so no more typing tweets or SMS but speaking it out and getting it down on your phone. I’ll be waiting for this one though it’s been said the phone would be out on mass production in January 2010. Pricing is not fixed but is estimated to be around $100-$200.

Superb Creative ad for Google Chrome

GchromeBrowsers wars are yet from over. All are fighting to get a larger market share. The big G (If your not a Geek/Nerd, then Big G means Google)  is also trying it’s luck in the fight with Chrome.

Chrome for Mac was a nice way of capturing a larger market share. Anyway, after the break check out a Creative ad, which surely took a hell lot of time to be made (assumption made on the basis of the beauty of the ad).

Google Goggles : A new visual search application for Android phones

Imagine a book you spotted in a bookstore and wanted to get more information about it instantly. Or maybe a monument you saw and you wanted to know the history behind it.”C’mon you can’t take Google with you everywhere” is what you would say. Or not if you own an Android phone. Google recently unveiled Google Goggles, a labs application for Android phones which allows users to google about a particular object by merely pointing the phone’s camera at it. This project, still in the early stages is yet another unique innovation from the Big G.

More about Goggles

The visual search application works on phones that run Android v1.6 or later. Pointing the camera at say ‘Taj Mahal’ would immediately provide related search results. On a smaller scale, pointing at a book shop’s name would search for the book shop, its address and even reviews.

It currently won’t work on your bonsai plant or your cute dog but Google plans on improving the technology to the point where you could be able to search the plant’s name by photographing its leaf. Let’s hope Google comes out with Goggles for non-Android phones too.

Similar Technology from Nokia

A similar technology has been already developed by Nokia and is aptly titled ‘Nokia Point and Find’. It is available on select Nokia phones(N97,N95,E71 and a few more). You can download it from Point and Find’s website(see link below)

Self Improving Search from Google : Now for everyone

googleGoogle self improves it’s search results using it’s Personalized Feature. It tracks your Google Searches and what links you click and according to that it shows results that match the results you clicked.

Till now the feature was available to only those users who had enabled web history and we signed in to their Google account. Now, it will track your searches for 180 days and refine your results according to the searches without the need of being signed in.

This could be another major improvement in Google Search which drastically improves search performance. It track web history via a Anonymous browser cookie.

How to run Google’s Android on HTC Windows Mobiles! (hack)

500px-android-logosvgFeeling sorry for Windows 6.5 which crushed all the expectations, similar to something what happened with Windows Vista. Now till windows comes up with something as good as Windows 7 for your mobile you would probably like switching to Android, Google’s open source OS which powers Motorola’s Droid ;)

Here’s a how you can do it.

  1. Format all that data on your HTC Windows Mobile so that, no problems later and you can expect better performance.
  2. Download Android for HTC from here. A complete package with Android for HTC.
  3. After downloading it’s time to download HaRET. You need to download this app because this app will allow Android to run in the Windows Mobile environment and reboot as Android. Note : The Phone won’t boot as Android on starting because it’s dependent on this app.
  4. After Downloading all the files it’s time to spread them over your external storage, unzip all the files on your external storage or internal storage in case of HTC Diamond. Be sure to unzip all the files in the Root Directory.
  5. Seems like your done with it. Ahem, i forgot that you should make sure that the Startup.txt is the one matching with your Cell Phone Model. The Default Package came with RAPH100 but you need to find out the exact code, just Google your model name to get it.
  6. It’s time to enjoy stuff after hardwork! Start HaRET app from your Windows Mobile phone and wait for it to reboot as Android. There you go!

This hack only works with HTC’s Touch Pro and HTC Touch HD as well as HTC Diamond but you can try it out with other models and if it works your surely lucky enough! Thanks KongTechnology!
