.XXX domains make it to the web but not India

If you’ve been in the roll, most controversy surrounded domain .xxx got approved this week with lots and lots of complications and mixed reviews from all around the world.

India’s IT ministry has decided to block off all the .xxx domain’s right away after their release. India has constantly been trying to block porn in India, punishing porn viewers and publishers all over the country.

Two things, it’s good that .xxx could be a way to segregate all the porn and propose a “red-light” area online and just keep it away from the rest of the internet. Second thing is that even the the website, with a .xxx which isn’t a porn website will get blocked. That is sick, what if someone wanted a fancy name with xxx’s? Like for example, thefileswhichsaid.xxx or whatever?

From what we are hearing possibly many other Asian countries like Indonesia are planning to follow India’s move. Well, frankly I don’t think its really going to make any difference because the porn industry already is aware of such steps and that .xxx would merely be an additional name as they will continue operating on .com domains until ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers which manages Internet Protocols) makes it mandatory for all porn websites to shift to the new domain (which it wouldn’t).

Facebook’s Email Service, Titan coming this Monday

For all of you, Facebook freaks we’re breaking some real great news. Back in February, we reported Facebook could possible working on a WebMail service to replace its existing Inbox System or possibly redesign it.

From what we are hearing now, Facebook is all geared up and set to release the service this Monday. Media invites are out and reports suggest that this event being held, is purely about inbox. UI change, some tweaks, POP access and of course, @facebook.com email address. Brilliant.

Facebooks has got 500 million users and this makes it incredibly easy to implement the service unlike Gmail’s other competitors. Oh, yeah you did hear about Google Vs. Facebook fight about importing contact data. Now, slowly all things are falling in their places.

In short, you could possible sending a mail to your pals from  @facebook.com account this monday!

RockMelt doesn’t melt a rock : Desktop Social Browser won’t work now

I just landed on Techmeme and was greeted with tons of posts hitting rocking the headline about RockMelt, the new Social browser which opened up for Beta today.

Frankly, it really doesn’t bother me which browser I am running as long it is fast, reliable, has a good UI, bookmarks, and it doesn’t clutter the screen. RockMelt might be good with the former but with conserving your screen’s real estate, duh.

It integrates Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, YouTube, infact the whole social web especially with a large part of its attention diverted to FaceBook.

The left column of the browser is for Facebook freaks. Its got chat, sending messages and status messages. Right column for Twitter and RSS feeds which updates itself in the background. The browser is based on chromium so not much difference with icognito window and other identical features.

The search bar has been modified to pull up relevant results from relevant websites directly without actually showcasing all google results.

What I hate about it, it’s the biggest distraction. I am sure, its not going to be allowed in office. You are trying to finish preparing reports before todays presentation and then you hear a ‘pop’, Jacy wants you to join her at some ice cream parlor. Nice.

Right and Left columns are gone and take away lot of pixels on my screen. And finally, how many of you spend social networking on your computer? I think there has been a major shift to smartphones and Tablets. This really doesn’t make sense unless they come up with apps for portable devices too. This browser could be the answer to those networking freaks who spend hours on those sites but if you are a serious worker, Chrome “ki Jai ho“.

How to use iPod, iPad or iPhone internet on your desktop computer

One of the greatest problems I came across was making good use of my buddy computer running on P4, Windows XP sp1 with no Wifi card. The worse part, I just had one router which was already connected to Airport express which powered my iDevices and Mac. My computer sat helpless with no internet and I enjoyed “Flash-Less” internet on my iPod and iPad.

Finally, today i got fed up and made it work. This is how I did it.

  1. Makesure your Wifi Signals are strong enough to make it to your desktop.
  2. Jailbreak your iPod, iPhone or iPad if you’ve not done it already. Once done, download PdaNet from Cydia.
  3. Download the desktop client from PdaNet’s website. It’s available for Mac and PC.
  4. Now launch the PdaNet software on your computer.
  5. Attach your iPod/iPhone/iPad to the computer and make sure your Wifi is switched on and is using the Wifi you want the desktop to run on.
  6. Launch the PdaNet app on your iDevice.
  7. Switch the USB tether on.
  8. Click connect on the PdaNet software on your desktop.
  9. Launch your browser and Enjoy!

On the internet, Innovation is out of stock. That’s what i feel, observe and experience

I rarely speak up my mind or get candid on sunday evenings because of couple reasons, firstly Dad being at home. But there’s the “Internet”, I can speak s*** and if it’s too sh***y, i’ll shift it to some anonymous blog and rip of commenters who wanna’ argue and ya, Dad doesn’t check my blog.

I am kinda’ perplexed as I write this thing (Nah, its not paranoia) but its some sort of frustration oozing out of my head. I blog, tweet, facebook, watch videos, browse information, everyday. I still think something is missing everyday and that is the smell of something new. When Facebook was a cool thing 3 years back, I loved it. Now I am bugged of it.

Everything is monotonous. Interaction with people these days, seems so too. Type, Type, Type. Emotions seem dropping away from people just like tears, and yes they flow down as emoticons!

Gosh, someone save me from those acronyms. LOL at aunt dropping coffee on that hot chic, ROFL at that dude loading his pants on the annual day, Man.. I am bored of this. Does someone have something new out there or is it that I am the only one who thinks internets saturated with old ideas?

Can this dude handle privacy for 400+ Million People? : Exclusive

Mark Zuckerberg: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard

Mark Zuckerberg: Just ask.

Mark Zuckerberg: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS

[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How’d you manage that one?

Mark Zuckerberg: People just submitted it.

Mark Zuckerberg: I don’t know why.

Mark Zuckerberg: They “trust me”

Mark Zuckerberg: Dumb fu**s.

What you read above was a part of IM conversation between Mark Zuckerberg (Facebooks’ Founder and CEO) who was some 19-ish at the time of chat and his friend.

Facebook is the fastest growing social network with already users more than 400 Million present. What else would you expect? Privacy Crisis, probably yes – no. With that kind of stuff above, do you think this youngster is capable of driving Facebook into the right direction but currently it’s turned towards a great downfall coming right up if it’s privacy concerns aren’t addressed immediately.  Seriously, can you trust this guy with your privacy?

Hell, with that kind of CEO attitude I see Facebook going nowhere. Good Luck.

Facebook join likes of Foursquare, Twitter- Location sharing Feature expected.

Next time when you log in to Facebook Mobile, you might get to share location. Yes, Facebook is following the lines of Twitter, that is to share location via the status updates (Remember Geotagging tweets?). The reports have been circulating for quite some time about the location features. These announcements were expected in the f8 conference, Facebook did announce some, but not the location feature.

The code has been spotted Facebook’s touch version for iPhone and iPod touch,  that reveals a coming “places” tab to accommodate location features. If you run around the code, you’ll find a clue in the Javascript code, and stand up and say “Places” is coming! Mcdonald’s has already started building a campaign around them.

The mobile version will be using the HTML5 location component to extract your location from your phone. Once done, you will be taken into a new Places area, which will have the list of venues around you to check-in. Yeah, the Foursquare way, isn’t it? The code also suggests, that Facebook will not only record the latitude and longitude, but also  your altitude, heading and speed. This will give Facebook a hell lot of your information, seriously.

The Places feature could be a major threat to it’s Facebook’s friend, Foursqaure which offers similar type of service. One thing is for sure, once Facebook enters the location sharing arena, user acquaintance with it’s new feature will be very alacritous since it beholds and army of 400+ Million Users. That means Location Sharing is here to stay and stay longer.

Sony isn’t the Enemy, Apple is : Nintendo

It’s not been an eon since Nintendo last claimed it’s enemy : Sony. Big N didn’t take time calling Sony a already defeated enemy after looking at sales figures which are well above it’s Microsoft and Sony Counterparts.

Major sellers, Nintendo Wii took a 21% decline in sales, and financially a drop of about Y51 Billion while maintaining it’s supremacy over other consoles. Lastly Nintendo called the iPhone OS premature for game developments, but Nintendo’s CEO himself came over to state Apple as it’s future enemy.

This is quite visible because the developers fleeing to the app store to have their own share in the gold rush. With over thousands of gaming applications, Motion Sensing and HD support make iDevices a complete blockbuster pack for family gaming. iPad crossing a million sales in meagre amount of time could have hurt Nintendo’s sentiments because, not now but in future it obviously meant the Cupertino guys were coming to raid the gamers market too!

Nintendo is looking forward to revive the “surprise” level amongst it’s products and bring back the magic. Waiting to see what they’ve got next.
