Now Siri works perfectly on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G!

Siri was launched exclusively for the iPhone 4S but hackers have managed to get through. They have been able to port Siri to the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G. This proves that the A5 processor (bundled with 4S) is not a compulsion for Siri to work. There are about 20 steps after which Steven Troughton Smith managed to get it working.

If you are wondering, “How to get Siri working on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch?” then here’s a flat answer – They’re not planning to release it to the public because it’s illegal to repack Apple’s code and distribute it. But I don’t think it will take more time for other hackers to get this working and release it once we know it’s possible. And we will update you on this as soon as it’s released. Have a look at the video after the break.

iPhone App by 17 yr old reaches iTunes Top Spot

Brandon Cowan, an Australian teen has developed an iPhone app, iParkedHere that helps users to mark the location where they have parked their car and it also remembers the parking time left for you. The idea is not so great but the amazing part is that it’s No. 1 grossing app in the lifestyle category on iTunes!

The developer is 17 and had made the app with his friend. The Application is available at a price of $1.99 and has created much buzz in the Australian App store.

The Aussie developer said, “At the moment we are keeping the money in the company but I will probably be saving it for a house when I’m older” He also said that their company “Crazy Dogs Apps”, last week signed an agreement with a Gaming firm to develop an app for it. He’s obviously made much more than $100,000 with this app!

Kids taking over the App Store?

iOS 4.2 for iPad and iPhone coming tomorrow?

Fresh from the rumors, we’ve heard Apple will be releasing the common OS to all its iDevices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) tomorrow. Numerous sources have pointed out.

We all are excited for it. It brings Multitasking, Folders, GameCenter, Wireless printing and Television streaming (with Apple TV ofcourse) to all the devices and is the first 4.0 update for the iPad. It has also got some HDR improvement.

Its free and rumors suggest its coming tomorrow, on the 9th. If not tomorrow then 12th November is also being speculated as the launch date as Apple will be releasing some network updates. Excited?

Surprisingly Opera Mini now on the App Store

We had rumors of Opera Mini landing up on the App Store and then confirmations too. The biggest question was, will Apple ever approve a app which would give direct competition to the default web browser that comes loaded with the device, Safari?

The terms and conditions also favored the chances of the Opera app being dropped from the app store but surprisingly, it’s there to make web browsing faster six times compared to the primeval browsing app on the iPhone.

The Data Compression technologies compress data by upto 90% and this speeds up the time taken to render each page.

“We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “This app is another step toward Opera’s goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.”

For Opera it’s celebration time as they get to serve a huge audience which were eagerly awaiting a product to rejuvenate their current browser but the only confounding thing over here is that, do Apple’s term only apply to competitive brands only and not others? Reason for making the statement is lucid, Apple states in it’s policies that Apps which duplicate any existing iPhone function will not be approved but what you see here is contrasting.

How to convert your iPod Touch or iPhone to iPad

iPad was recently unveiled by Steve Jobs at their Media Event which created enough buzz to take the web by a storm. But guys, you need to wait for more 60 days till the devices start shipping. Too excited for it? Then there’s one way to get it on your iPhone/iPod touch too!

Taimur at RedmondPie did a little homework and found out how to do it. You need a Jailbroken iPhone with Cydia, the winterboard App from the store and few more apps and tweaks to have your iPad on iPhone ready! Also the iBook store which is on iPad is brought to iPod Touch/iPhone using the Classics app with the same user interface!

Here’s a video after break that shows how to do it!

What you can expect from Apple in 2010 : We predict the future!

iPhone 4G

What is it? : Successor to the current iPhone 3GS

iPhone 4G

Release Date : All eyes on the January 2010 event for more updates

Pricing : Should be same as the current pricing with contract.

iPod Touch (Refreshed)

What is it? : Successor to current iPod Touch generation

Specs : Should carry a 5 Megapixel camera and OS 4.0. Similar to iPhone 4G.

Release Date : If it is to be announced, it will be with iPhone 4G.

Pricing : Might see a drop in the current pricing because it is going to give other handheld gaming consoles a tough fight.

MacBook Pro (Refreshed)

What is it? : Apple’s Range of laptops for professionals. Would be a refresh to the existing line.

Specs : Upgrade from Core 2 Duo to Core i7 and also changes to Graphics, a shift from Nvidia graphic cards to ATI. Better Display, perhaps?

Looking at the rest of the products i think there won’t be massive changes because most of them have been refreshed sometime back. I just hope if Apple really does pull down their product prices!

iPod Touch Vs iPhone : Makes no sense, really?

In this iPhone powered world (or atleast iPhone buzzed world), we won’t make a mistake of under-estimating the iPod touch which is also a major player in the market.

Recently, when the survey was made about the most sold gaming consoles iPod Touches were high on the charts and this Christmas iPod Touch has topped a lot of things.

App Store download stats

App Store download stats

First and foremost being the app store downloads. According to Flurry, which provides statistics about Application downloads on handheld devices, stated that Apple’s app store saw a 51% growth during Christmas and that there was about 1000% growth in downloads from iPod Touches!

This is why people around the web are telling that iPod Touch’s were the most gifted devices this Christmas (surely when compared to iPhone). It’s raining apps for Apple! [MobileCrunch]

There’s something else we had stated, referring to this. When Apple did add a video camera to iPod Nano and not to iPod Touch we said why they were doing this, so that they could sell a hell lot of iPod Touches this Christmas and then later add a camera and those who bought iPods would probably upgrade to the newer iPods soon. I am really looking forward to their January event!

Twitters New Mobile Version : Mobile Version of a #fail whale too!

IMG_0341Twitter unveils a new Mobile Client which resembles the Web interface and has all features but Lists. So finally the time has come when you can dump your twitter iPhone client and move on with the web interface.

This was a much needed step. One of the reasons could be, if twitter want’s to monetize it’s web interface it would be useless to have millions using it through third party clients and not the actual web interface.

Apart from that, the current mobile version just sucks, because you can’t see your dm’s (Direct Messages), You cannot Retweet messages directly and forget that when you cannot even reply to tweets!

The new version can be accessed at mobile.twitter.com from your mobile browser.

Also, Twitter has mobile version of it’s #fail whale too!

The new interface is kind of Smart :) Have a look!
