Breaking : The New Magic Mouse From Apple with Multi-Touch Capabilities, Bluetooth and 4 month battery

If you ask me, i have always been impressed a bit by Apple, especially with Mac OS and it’s interface. Well, this time to it’s Well done for Apple. Sometime back there was a legal fuss about Apple’s Might Mouse being registered earlier by some other company because of which apple was forced to chuck the name “Mighty Mouse”.

Picture 8

Well, thats not the end of the story. There comes a new Mouse, called Magic Mouse form Apple. Features?

  • Bluetooth
  • MultiTouch Gesture Support
  • It’s Just got one Button
  • Wireless
  • It’s got a Four Month Battery Life (Good!)

It’s Got a hard acrylic surface on top of the mouse which is a improved from its predecessor Might Mouse, a lot.  It’s Priced at  $69 and is available from today. The Scroll Wheel has also been kicked off with this version!Picture 9

Few Problems user could face is that, those who have been using trackpad on their macbooks, the mouse is a bit different from it. Well, it uses a single finger movement to scroll down and not two, like the trackpad. Also one bad news is that, it has not got the Pinch to Zoom kind of action :( We, Miss it though.  Magic  Mouse Requires you to have Mac OS X v10.5.8 (Snow Leopard). Picture 10

Few of the Multi-Touch Gestures include clicking anywhere on the MultiTouch Surface, and to zoom you need to hold down control key on your keyboard and move your hand in upward direction on the mouse, Two Finger Swipe to go back and front in your safari history or view photos in iPhoto.

The Press Release out there after Break.

Apple Introduces Magic Mouse-The World’s First Multi-Touch Mouse

CUPERTINO, California-October 20, 2009-
Apple® today introduced the new wireless Magic Mouse, the first mouse to use Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch™ technology. Pioneered on iPhone®, iPod touch® and Mac® notebook trackpads, Multi-Touch allows customers to navigate using intuitive finger gestures. Instead of mechanical buttons, scroll wheels or scroll balls, the entire top of the Magic Mouse is a seamless Multi-Touch surface. Magic Mouse comes standard with the new iMac® and will be available as a Mac accessory at just $69. “Apple is the Multi-Touch leader, pioneering the use of this innovative technology in iPhone, iPod touch and Mac notebook trackpads,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Apple’s Multi-Touch technology allows us to offer an easy to use mouse in a simple and elegant design.” Magic Mouse features a seamless touch-sensitive enclosure that allows it to be a single or multi-button mouse with advanced gesture support. Using intuitive gestures, users can easily scroll through long documents, pan across large images or swipe to move forward or backward through a collection of web pages or photos. Magic Mouse works for left or right handed users and multi-button or gesture commands can be easily configured from within System Preferences. The Magic Mouse laser tracking engine provides a smooth, consistent experience across more surfaces than a traditional optical tracking system. Magic Mouse uses Bluetooth wireless capabilities to create a clean, cable-free desk top and its secure wireless connection works from up to 10 meters away. To extend battery performance, Magic Mouse includes an advanced power management system that works with Mac OS® X to automatically switch to low power modes during periods of inactivity. The wireless Magic Mouse is powered by two AA batteries which are included.

Pricing & Availability Magic Mouse comes standard with the new iMac and is available at the end of October through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), at Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers for a suggested retail price of $69 (US).

Magic Mouse requires Mac OS X Leopard® version 10.5.8 or later. Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone.

Windows Vs. Mac : What People on twitter think

apple-vs-windowsThere is this war always going on which is capable enough to be called as World War 3, it’s Mac Vs. Pc. So, today i go on asking people on twitter what they feel about it. Here are some the results i found, which i found funny.

When i Searched for F*** windows on Twitter i found some results worth to be listed here, Picture 7Picture 8And if thats not it, People are abusing Bill Gates too!

Picture 9

When i asked People why Windows is Better than Mac, than What i got was expected

RT @monikkinom: Need this for my post : Why do you Think Windows is Better than Mac? #urgent #help _ it isn’t! (Tweet by tim_butcher)

Here’s DesiNinja’s Tweet Conversation which might explain why people use Windows,

Tweet 1 : ‘cos all the cracked version of latest full softwares & games r available of win only.

Tweet 2 :  thats the primary reason i shifted frm ubuntu… i like linux otherwise.

But this is quite weird. People Use the same windows and howl abuses on it, it’s like making a hole in the plate your eating. So, to cover up i had some windows Guys too, I had put a poll to ask “Does Windows Suck” to clear out the above discussed points and i was surprised at the result, which said that 75% people feel windows does not suck.

Next, i searched for Mac F***, but amazingly i found some tweets which supported Apple!

Picture 1

But finally Pricing does matter and people prefer buying PC’s because they are more affordable for sure. This is something what Apple Needs to take under consideration. $1000+ for Computers is way expensive.

Tweet by Tito : becoz I am an Indian and I cannot afford to buy a Mac..my dad is poor

Final Note : Well, i found out Twitter is filled with lot of Apple Fanboys, who can abuse off Windows, but at the same time there are few Windows Lovers too, ahem ahem, (I know some of them) and Linux Lovers. But it seems most run on windows and are always complaining.. But for me, whatever it may be, my work should be done. What do you think?

A Sound is worth thousand actions : Using Mac’s Speech to Action Feature

Mac OS X has many features, and most of them are hidden and they won’t reveal until you search for them.

My System Preferences

My System Preferences

Today, when i was just changing my Wallpaper on my Computer, i just clicked on Speech in the System Preferences. Well, then what i found was the Text to Speech stuff, which in Windows is known as Windows Narrator.

Picture 37

Speech Settings

Well and Good that Mac has it. But then i saw another feature, called Speech Recognition. I clicked on it. All i saw was Speakable Items Written on Top with options, to Click on or off. Following my age old habit, i clicked on and waited to see what happened.

Picture 38Some Small Circle like thing popped up with a Microphone drawn on it, and it had something written over there, “Esc”. So, i just pressed “Esc” and the Mic Started Receiving Voice. Good. I started singing….

But then, i though what is it exactly? And i don’t know what happened or was it a co-incidence, i said “Apple” and at that time i was Watching some YouTube Video. A new tab opened with Apple.com!

Well, that was just the starting. I went back to the settings, and dug in, like i always do and found out many, many commands which could be used do save time, and just do simple tasks.

When keeping “Esc” pressed (or any other key which you can assign in the Speech Settings), i just spoke “What time is It?” and then i heard some voice repeating my question with the answer.

What Time is it?

What Time is it?

And if that’s not enough, you could assign your own names too, for example i landed on hop.im (My Url shortening service) and i just said “Make This Page Speakable” and then some Box Popped out asking me to type in something which could be said by me everytime i want to open the page. I named it Hop. So, now every time i say “Hop” it opens hop.im in my broswer. Same With Twitter, Google and Apple (Ofcourse) and many more.

Just a Tip : Using a External Microphone is suggested because the internal one’s are located at odd places, and in order to record it clearly you need to take lots of pains, so a external would rock. Also, there have been lots of problems i have been facing with this because of some Accent problems, Our (Indian) English is way different from those of the Americans.

Unboxing Apple’s iOffer : Getting Hired by Apple

Seriously, i just loved the way how i got the MacBook. Frankly Speaking, i was more excited about the packing than the actual contents, be cause i had already seen iPhone and iPod Touch Packaging by Apple. So Simple, So Neat, So amazing.

Well, ever wondered if Apple was to hire you, how will you receive the offer, i mean what type of packaging?

Glyph who is prepared to work for Apple, describes his pleasant experience while Getting his iOffer.iOffer1

Much like all other User Manuals, this iOffer too carries the Apple Logo at the front, and it says everything. Then Slowly as you open it, you get to read the Text Welcome to Apple. There’s something called “Ah, Paperwork” too which is way different from other companies which seems to publish a 100 pages book kind of stuff while hiring.

iOffer2

Next, when he finally opens the flap, he gets the “Offer” printed in plain black bold letter, in front of the whole document. Impressive.

Thanks Glyph!

Apple’s Tablet PC : Taiwan Manufacturers lucky to tap Supplies for the Tablet

A Taiwanese News Website Recently Posted information which left us no Reason to believe that Apple’s Tablet PC won’t be out by next February.

According to the Sources, it is confirmed that Taiwanese Manufacturers have Tapped the Supply for Computer Parts for the Most Rumored, Apple’s Tablet.

Simplo Technology Co., Ltd., DynaPack International Technology Corp have been assigned the job of supplying 300,000 long lasting Battery Packs (Woo! That’s a real big number!) for their Tablet Pc.

Next, Wanshih Electronic Co., Ltd. which is a supplier of PC mini coaxial cables situated in Taiwan has grabbed the offer for Apple’s mini coaxial cables order (about 70%).

Apart from that, Taiwan’s  Mag. Layers Scientific-Technics Co., Ltd. and Wintek Corp will supply Power Chokes and Touch Panels (Same which were supplied for iPhone’s) Respectively to Apple.

tablet pc

So from all this Features we can make up for the Tablet PC are -

  • A 9.6 Inch Screen
  • Multi Touch User Interface
  • Built-in HSPDA (high speed download packet access) module
  • A Long Lasting battery pack

Prices can be around $1000 Range. But, under Mass Production the prices may go a further drop as of what we assume now. Apart from that, it is also being stated that this Tablet will be coming in Hands of AT&T and not Verizon. Ha.

Now, after this if someone tells you that the Apple Tablet Rumor is fake, will you believe it?

Apple’s Snow Leopard 10.6 was out on Apple’s Online Store : Kind of!

Mac Box Set version of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard was recently up on the Apples Online Store. The product was up for sale and delivery was to be made in 24 hours but now, there is no such page online on the Apple Store. The Box has iLife 09 and iWork 09 with it and was priced at $169.

Apple also stated that the users who update from Leopard 10.4 will have to upgrade by buying this set whereas people running Leopard 10.5 can buy the the Single OS priced at $29. Well if you really don’t want to pay $169 for Leopard, better upgrade your Mac to 10.5 and the simply by the Stand Alone OS.

Well the thing is not about this but the fact that Snow Leopard will soon be released the public. Many Rumours are floating around the web. Apple Announced that Snow Leopard will be out in September while many sources claim it will be out as soon as 28th August.

Snow Leopard Build 10A432 is being claimed as the final release of the OS and also many Photos of it have been leaked over the Internet. We’re not sure if they are 100% genuine but it makes us believe that they are genuine.

ACDSee Pro Beta now available for MAC

ACDSee has been around the Windows platform for many years. So ACD Systems decided to change the things a little bit. So here you go, now Beta version of ACDSee Pro is available for MAC machines.

ACDSee for MAC skips the file importing process, and enables the users to drag and drop images. ACDSee provides support for 40 plus file types that also includes movies and document formats. Features like Cover Flow and Quick Look are expected to be launched in the future. You can download the Beta version from the ACD site. The final version is expected to be available during 2010. The price is estimated to be around $170. So go ahead give it a try and share with us your experience using the MAC version.

QuickTime player to provide screen recording in Snow Leopard

QuickTime will become much more involved and its feature base will be increased once  Snow Leopard is introduced. I say this, because with the introduction of Snow Leopard, QuickTime will provide screen recording features along side its ability to capture audio and video contents.

The beta users of MAC OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have previously reported about the existence of such a feature. Although there remains doubt as to this feature is available in the Build 10A335 released on Thursday, but it is confirmed that this feature was not available with the previous builds.

This feature is particularly useful for software developers, educators and e-learners for obvious reasons. This feature will simplify the process of creating video tutorials, software demonstrations if nothing else. It is much better than having to stick with the old still shots.

I think that this is a change many of you will be happy to read about and appreciate.
