Twitter is the most famous micro blogging social network site.  A lot of people have tried out Twitter, but a lot of them did not know what to do after they got an account and started micro blogging. There is much more to it than just having an account and micro blogging. Here are just five things you can do after getting your Twitter account.

1. Update your profile

    When people visit your Twitter page, they often look for information about the person. Filling out the profile will let the visitors get a better idea of the person who is tweeting.

    2. Create a Twitter background

      Giving your Twitter page a unique look with a unique background is an awesome way to let others know that you are creative and professional. There are some websites which offer  a collection of Twitter backgrounds so that you don’t have to create them by yourself. For example TwitrBackgrounds offer a large collection of good quality backgrounds. There are also people who do custom designs of Twitter backgrounds.

      3. Follow people

        While on Twitter it is a good idea to follow people who have common interests. To find out people who have common interests as you, you can search for your interests on Twitter and then find people who blog about them. There is also another amazing service called Twibes which finds groups of people with common interests. I suggest using this service instead of manually searching on Twitter since it is much easier.

        4. Get your Twitter Client

          If you are a very active Twitter user then you need a client for your laptop, mobile and browser. This way you don’t have to go to Twitter.com and update your status. Instead of that you can update it directly from your desktop, mobile or browser.

          5. Get your Twitter badge

            For the owners of personal websites and blogs it will be a good idea to have a Twitter badge. Twitter badges are little gadgets that will show your Twitter posts right inside them which can be used embedded in your blog or website. To get a Twitter badges  visit http://twitter.com/badges

            These are just 5 things you can do with your Twitter account.  After doing all of the above be sure to be a regular Twitter user so that you get more followers and friends.

            The Google Phone – Nexus One : Features and Design Review

            gPhoneGoogle Employees started tweeting from a new “Google Phone”. Rumors were already around and now its confirmed.  Google Employees all over the world have already got it form Google for testing purposes.

            Google confirmed this news too. The best part of it is that this mobile phone would be branded and unlocked by Google and sold all over. This could be the turning point. 

            When the internet giant which nearly rules the internet comes to  the mobile market you can hope for some tough competition to the existing brands!

            We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.

            Well, they aren’t ready to share info about the phone officially, but who cares we still got it. It is rumoured to be named “Nexus one” and I really don’t know what that means.

            The OS is obviously Android 2.1 and hardware, as I said in the title, is made by HTC (I wonder, didn’t they get any other better company? Just Kidding.)

            It’s damn fast as it’s got a “SnapDragon Chip” and graphics seem to be too good on a OLED touchscreen. It’s got a onscreen keyboard! (iPhone, sigh.)

            One tweets from a Google employee says, “an iPhone on beautifying steroids”

            Maybe this one’s a sexier version of iPhone or something. This Cellphone will be sold online by Google and as i said it’s unlocked, so you will need to buy a carrier separately (This was happening in India since years, but finally Google also does it!)

            It’s got a Voice to text feature so no more typing tweets or SMS but speaking it out and getting it down on your phone. I’ll be waiting for this one though it’s been said the phone would be out on mass production in January 2010. Pricing is not fixed but is estimated to be around $100-$200.

            Thanks Yahoo for Twitter Integration : So Early

            Google Got it. Bing Got it. My brother got it. Now Yahoo gets it. Thanks Yahoo so much for the adding a brilliant new feature of Twitter results to Yahoo so early (If you thought Yahoo! did it early, your actually dum. I am being sarcastic, sigh.)

            Anyway, let me show you how it works. As we know Google and Bing surely have better backups and investment ready compared to Yahoo and when they included search results they payed Twitter for getting access to status updates on twitter but on Yahoo’s side, Yahoo is completely dependent on free tools (mostly the twitter API itself) for indexing updates.

            The Algorithm is such that it finds relevant tweets matched with the Search and then shows up in the results, but mind it guys it would only appear for the trending topics / hot topics. 

            What could be the effects? Perhaps not radical but surely this could help Yahoo a bit since today, more then reading long stories we prefer finishing everything up in 140 characters, but i wonder if it makes a huge difference as Google and Bing who are one the largest search providers have already done it.

            Tweet to your competitors and loose your Job : Vodafone

            If you remember some guys at dominos had got fired for uploading a idiotic (stupid or whatever) on youtube. Wonder if your one tweet could do the work!

            Vodafone becomes is damn angry, and stated that the twitterer should be sacked as Vodafone had nothing to do with T-Mobiles Downtime. I felt that the tweet was a real insult to T-Mobile then Vodafone (you got the pun, ha?). Thanks TheNextWeb.

            Twitters New Mobile Version : Mobile Version of a #fail whale too!

            IMG_0341Twitter unveils a new Mobile Client which resembles the Web interface and has all features but Lists. So finally the time has come when you can dump your twitter iPhone client and move on with the web interface.

            This was a much needed step. One of the reasons could be, if twitter want’s to monetize it’s web interface it would be useless to have millions using it through third party clients and not the actual web interface. 

            Apart from that, the current mobile version just sucks, because you can’t see your dm’s (Direct Messages), You cannot Retweet messages directly and forget that when you cannot even reply to tweets!

            The new version can be accessed at mobile.twitter.com from your mobile browser.

            Also, Twitter has mobile version of it’s #fail whale too!

            Facebook is addictive. You’ve got to admit it and the most addictive thing being the Relationship status part (though many don’t change it) to some it means a lot.

After the Break, we show you a video where @TheSoftwareJedi updates his status on twitter and facebook right away before kissing his bride from the Church! So this proves, there is no right time to use facebook, it’s the right situation!

            Every 98 minutes, a new english word is created. With that you know, how many words out there are created throughout the year.

            Twitter is perhaps the fastest growing social network, and even more talked about service. This makes twitter the No.1 on the list of most popular terms of 2009 for English Language.

            The name itself is addictive (I like to say, “Tw-i-tt-er”), and thus it was declared the top word of 2009 by Global Language monitor which tracks English Language.

            So, Twitter does Defeat Barack Obama and H1N1 in the phrase too, and it was quite obvious. Obama, H1N1 etc. had been trending topics on twitter i.e most tweeted about, they said it through twitter so it was going to win.

            Massive growth in Social Media has benefited twitter a lot, and twitter has broken so many records!

            Twitter has been offered $500,00 only if it could host a banner ad on it’s homepage for 24 hours. Who is rich one to pay so much? It’s uSocial, a company which focuses on Social Media Marketing.

            The Ceo of uSocial said, 

            While $500,000 may seem like a large amount to invest in one banner for one day, we believe that the investment will be more than worth it,

            There has been no response from twitter, back on wether this is a deal or no-deal. But,  twitter founders tell that, their focus should be on developing technology and improving twitter and if they would shift their focus to generating revenue, that would be a mistake.

            Twitters, Got a different plan in mind, they hope on charging people and brands using twitter for commercial purpose. $500,000 is a whole lot of money and 24 hours is not much time. Let’s See if twitter approves it or not. Any Ideas, Suggestions list them down in the comments!

            I just recently found out, that my cab driver was on facebook and was asking me to add him. Well, so any people know me just because of twitter, yes more then those who searched for me on Google too. 

            With such rapid growth of Social Media, will Google be able to survive it? Google Being Killed by Facebook and Twitter? Seems, like a joke now. But perhaps in future this may be the truth.

            There are so many reasons to support it. Check out some Statistics, when i compared Twitter, Facebook and Google Interms of traffic the receive.

            Now you know, that Facebook atleast is not much far from Google, with it’s 300 Million User Base and growing. If Stats are to be further believed then Facebook had a growth of traffic about 202% in this year while Twitter had a outstanding growth of about 660% but Google only had a growth of 10%. If this Further goes on then. the future is not far when Facebook and Twitter will rule the web.

            That may be one of the reasons why many people changed their homepage from Google.com to Facebook.com. As we know, Google’s Main Target is the Search Market which has seen a dip while being compared to facebook, it’s user base has grown enormously.

            This proves it out that, now people have become less interested in searching for stuff rather then networking. Twitter has also seen great growth and with the speed at which it is growing, it will soon come near Google and Facebook.

            Breaking : Twitters List Features Goes live and makes it easier than ever to follow people

            Twitters List Feature seems to be the most awaited one. Sometime back there was some news about twitter adding a new feature where you could automatically follow a group of people, and you won’t have to go and click follow, follow, follow for people you wanted to add.

            This Feature is in Beta and now it has gone live for users, Including me and few more people. Here’s a Quick Review of the new feature.

            Picture 39You’ll see a box over your twitter profile, if your few of the lucky users who get to try out this feature, anyways this feature will be rolled out to public soon though.

            Let me tell you what lists generally mean, it’s like a group kind of thing where you can add the people your following, for example twitters made a list called, @twitter’s team. Well, if you visit the list now instead of going to each workers profile you can simple just click on Follow the list and you will be able to follow the complete list in one go!

            How to Add it? It’s simple. Just click on create new list on the top banner to get started. Then you’ll be greeted with a box. What’s Hit is that you can make private lists too :)

            Then after that i’ll be taken to the list page, where i have to add the profiles of the users i am following. These lists will be arranged in this URL Manner – twitter.com/USER/LISTNAME

            Picture 42So then i follow what’s given there and i slowly move on to the Following page, where on the left hand side of every profile i see, another small icon which on clicking allows me to add that person to the list. Well, I can add the person to as many lists as i want.  Simple, Right?

            Now, after adding people the list shows the latest tweets of the people you’ve added to the list, and above that it shows you to follow the list. So in One go you can follow all my friends!

            Well, how does it work? Here’s a view of twitter team whom i followed as soon i got this feature.

            Well after the list feature being added, i see profiles also in a bit different manner. Now, near the Followers and Following Numbers on RIght hand side of your profile you can also see “Lists” and the no. of tweets gets shifted to below your user name. Have a look at my profile.

            Another Feature i found out was to see, which lists you are included in and which lists you’ve made all together. These can be accessed by clicking on the Lists Link on your profile page (Shown Above).
