These are what Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 Devices are going to be : Lumia 800 and 710

Lately, a lot of ups and downs in the smartphone market have forced many good players to go broke OR partner with rivals. Nokia’s daring step to go into “strategic partnership” with Microsoft is due effect, tomorrow.

But you know what? We’ve heard it before Nokia’s big event tomorrow and we present to you the first ever Nokia Phones on Windows Phone 7. Namely, two of them.

Lumia 800
Lumia 800 Leaked

Lumia 810 Leaked

Looks a lot like the Nokia N9, infact it’s a design replica.  It features a 512 Mb RAM and 50 hrs music playback support and NO MicroSd slot. Fair enough. The startling feature, its running WP 7!
What excites me the most is, will the hardware get a long well with the software?

Lumia 710

Lumia 800 is supposed to be the higher end model while Lumia 710 serves as the bottom. It looks “cheaper” and also lacks a MicroSd Slot.

For now treat them as rumors if you want, till they’re proven right tomorrow. Thanks WinRumors.

Windows 8 welcome screen leaked : looks hot and promising

Windows 8 Welcome Screen leaked screenshot after break. How is it? (Click to enlarge)

Doesn’t it resemble something? Somewhat like Windows Phone 7 Metro User Interface. Background image can obviously be customized. CTRL + ALT + DELETE seems obvious option to log in but there will be more options like clicking the image and logging in.

For Tablet versions, Windows 8 unlocking would be done by swiping a pattern on the skin. Thanks DownloadSquad.

Superb Innovative Windows 7 and Windows Live Advertisement

Here is a refreshing advertisement from Microsoft for Windows 7 + Windows Live.  We’ve heard about this, Cloud Computing , all over the web but this time it’s not about the content about the ad but about the innovation.

Give it a look and you’ll be amazed. Video after break.

Riskiest thing for Microsoft now : Next Version of Windows says Ballmer

Windows 7 sold lots of copies since its launch, about 240 Million. The only reason people upgraded was to get away with buggy Vista. Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer was questioned, “Riskiest Product Bet?” and most of us would have expected Windows Phone 7 or almost anything else except what he said. The next version of Windows.

The Next Windows, Windows 8 as we know, is supposedly the riskiest thing for Microsoft now. Why? The whole problem is that question. Why?

Here’s why I think Ballmer called next Windows perilous.

  • We can observe the change. From Desktops and Laptops to Portable and Handheld devices. Its the smartphone era, full of apps. App for almost anything. Windows is all about software and for a common user, sometimes “softwares” are a flop compared to “apps”. The word “app” itself seems lighter. So definitely, the future is Apps because they are fast, light and smart. Softwares are bulky. Spending hours to install softwares, figuring out tools and then finally getting work done. People are fed up of this and they want something faster. Way more faster. Proof : Mac is slowly moving towards the app friendly OS, visible in the new Mac Lion announcement.
  • The current computer concept is boring. Almost every decade we have a new concept emerging, older gets thrown out and people adapt newer ways of computing. From tank sized computers to Desktops to Laptops and now to Slates, Tablets and Smartphone. We expect a refresh and its a fact that every third version of Windows is a risk for Microsoft as it begins with throwing away old concepts. But this time, the whole structure needs to be changed radically as people are yearning for better performance.
  • More businesses are going for alternatives. Will the next Windows be able to maintain its current market share in future? Google, Apple and many other startups are jumping onboard with killer ideas. In about 18 months from now, when the next Windows would possibly come out, will the redmond based conglomerate be able to maintain its dominance?
  • They’ve got something already. They are working on an idea which might be revolutionary. The only problem is that they are not sure, if the users will accept it on the fly or if it would be kicked out. The revolutionary idea could be possibly related to cloud as thats where MS is leading to.
  • They’re just doing it to make some buzz. Almost all companies do it. But I don’t favor the possibility of this one as Steve Ballmer is not the right guy to do it for Microsoft.

We’re surely going to keep an eye for this. Watch out MS.

240 Million Windows 7 Licenses sold : Becomes Fastest selling OS

It’s party time for Microsoft. It has sold 240 Million copies of Windows 7 in the past year making it the fastest selling Operating System in history.

No doubt, it was definitely way better than Microsoft’s previous mishap, Vista. More than 80% of the PC’s upgraded to Windows 7, which surely is much more than what Windows Vista had achieved. Windows 7 has also grabbed about 17% of the global OS market share.

Customer Satisfaction reports have shown a major jump for MS, which boasts out that it’s all because of the new OS. Businesses have adopted Win 7 happily and I guess it was just obvious, Vista was a disaster and to upgrade to 7 was the best option available. Thanks to the marketing campaigns by windows with which they took televisions and internet by storm have contributed to the sales. Microsoft is moving towards the cloud future, IE 9 and live essentials are a proof. Waiting to hear more from MS.

Feel Windows Phone 7 on your iPhone!

This is the best part of having an iPhone. You can taste interfaces of several OS’s together without even needing to change your device. All you need to do is download some apps and your on it!

For Palm Pre like app switching, we had Pro Switcher. They actually ran Android on iPhone 2G too and amidst all this if you missed Windows Phone 7, then it’s here!

We’ve got a Windows Phone 7 theme released in Polish language (unluckily no English) at Deviantart.com (Direct Download Link – 11 mb). The theme resembles a lot of the actual OS save a few features which can only be possible on the actual Windows device. No Doubt the theme is worth it!

The theme comes with a little bit of text to read to install the theme and have it working flawlessly,

Windows Phone 7 Series : Back with Vengeance

Windows 7 lived upto expectations and proved the Microsoft has learn form its mistakes (in this case, the biggest ofcourse – WIndows Vista) and this time it’s true once again.

Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 was just a big mess and they knew it that something better was surely needed, especially after a great outcry of developers and consumers. Growing competition from competitors like Apple could have also been a force driving them to innovation. Whatever the reason maybe, Microsoft has proved it that they are the winners with Windows Phone 7 Series.

They have redesigned the whole concept of a Phone OS which is a new concept to your phones which is 100% original and you wouldn’t have experienced it (unless you own a Zune). Layouts, Motion, Transitions, Text Fonts, Hardware integrations and nearly everything your OS has, is re-engineered with Phone 7.

In a crowded market filled with phones that look the same and do the same things, I challenged the team to deliver a different kind of mobile experience. Windows Phone 7 Series marks a turning point toward phones that truly reflect the speed of people’s lives and their need to connect to other people and all kinds of seamless experiences.

Steve Ballmer boasted highly of the new OS and why shouldn’t he? It’s really worth all our wait! One thing most people hate about iPhone OS is the Start Screen, it just shows you icons and icons. Phone 7 revolutionizes it with Live Tiles. This new feature grabs real time content from the web, for example all you friends photos and shows it up on your home screen on a tile and you can have any number of tiles (as long as they fit in the screen).

Window’s introduces Hubs. These bring together bring all the data from the internet, application and services together into one and most useful mashup.

  • People – This hub is like contacts on your Phone. This time, it snatches all their activity on Social Networks and Photos together and puts them here. It also provides a centralized location to post updates to Facebook.
  • Pictures – Social Networks and your Videos and Pictures now go hand in hand! Easily sync them.
  • Music + Video – If you’ve used a Zune you would be used to this. If not this is seriously fun man! This draws content from your computer and you can use Zune Desktop Software too, use online services or listen to Radio.
  • Games – As we had smelled it earlier, it’s here. Windows Live comes to Windows phone. Now you can play Xbox live games on your phone, use Spotlight feed and see a gamer’s avatar, Achievements and gamer profile.
  • Marketplace – The Store for Applications and Games.
  • Office – This feature makes the phone ideal to be held by every business man. Office, Outlook Mobile, OneNote and SharePoint Workspace are all here making it easier than ever to read, edit and share documents!

Now there’s something which is going to hurt Google. It’s Bing which has got tight integration with Phone 7. Search anything, anywhere amidst anything without the need of copy pasting, just Bing! Email and browsing support multi touch capabilities.

Microsoft says that work with partners is currently on and phones with Phone 7 support are being developed and will hit the stores by holiday season later this year! Overall, the interface is a huge victory for Microsoft. All hail Microsoft! Check out their official blog post here.

Windows 7 now has 7% of the Operating System market

From few years from now, when asked what is a computer, few people answered, “Windows”. I could hear those geeks laughing but they were just a minority while most others really did not know what the question meant.

Time’s changed. Windows Xp came which currently has 60%-70% of the Operating System market share and then Windows Vista came which was the biggest flop in the history of Microsoft’s OS lineup. But then Windows 7 arrived which proved to be a game changer and if reports from NetMarketShare are to be believed then Windows 7 has captured 7.50% of the market share within just three months of launch.

This has broken Microsoft’s all past records and Windows 7 has defeated Windows Vista sales by over 280%! One of the biggest reasons why this happened is because most of the computer manufacturers quickly flocked to Windows 7 as it was way better than Windows Vista and not to forget Microsoft does have a huge of army of manufacturers! NetBook sales were also all time high and Windows 7 quickly sailed it’s way to success in the Netbook river too!

Windows Mobile + Xbox Live : Gaming platform for Windows Mobile?

Microsoft is expanding it’s Xbox live gaming platform to much more then just consoles, but to Windows Mobiles too.

Recently job postings prove it. One of them said,

We need a Principle Program Manager who can help drive the platform and bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile.

Now thats for sure that, someday, Microsoft is going to come out with this soon. We are currently don’t know what  is it exactly about but here’s another piece of job posting which might clear somethings out.

This person will focus specifically on what makes gaming experiences “LIVE Enabled” through aspects such as avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences.
