Microsoft to Launch Marketplace for Windows Mobile on 6th October

win mobile 6_5 market place

Today, for consumers the most important thing they look for on a cellphone is Apps. Till now Microsoft did not allow developers from all over world to develop apps and sell them to users via centralized system and so Apple did win over microsoft with their app store for iPhone.

But Microsoft will be back into the race on October 6th, 2009 with the launch of Windows MarketPlace for Windows Mobile allowing developers and ISV’s (Independent software vendors) will be able to showcase and sell out their apps to Windows Mobile users.

Unfortunately in this Phase 1, the store will support only Mobiles with with Windows Mobile 6.5 which will be released on the same date as Windows MarketPlace. But in November the Marketplace team hope to bring in support for Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 and till that date a PC accessible catalogue for the Apps for users to Shop, user generated reviews.

According to their blog post, they stated that they had received a large response from the developers and good feedback. Well, it slashes out Apple’s App store by stressing on Windows MarketPlace’s open, transparent and rewarding processes for the developers.

They also listed some of the known issues with the Windows Marketplace which they will solve out till the launch of the MarketPlace next week!

Windows 7 : Get some Cool Ringtones for your Cell Phone!

After the craze with Bing tones few days back, here Windows 7 also have come up with ringtones for you to have the feel of the Operating system while on the go.

For the people who admire Windows 7 OS very much, Long Zheng has produced the OS tones in a format that you can use to play as ring tones on your mobile phone.

The tones are in 2 formats: MP3 for everyone using MP3 compatible phones and m4r for the iPhone users. Some of the tones are really great but that is a personal choice.

Download the Windows 7 Ring Tones here.

How to Shut Down your PC faster! : Tricks you need to know

My friends are very impatient. Once had my friend playing some games on my PC along with me. I just went out of the room to attend a call and i told my friend to shut down the PC before leaving. As soon as he Clicked Shut down and then waited for 30 seconds and switched the whole System off. Now you know, if you don’t properly shut down you PC thousands of problems can arise.
So i found out the Whole thing is that my ShutDown Speed is too low. So here’s what i did to increase it! Simply follow our 3 simple steps!
  • Go to >> start menu , then select run and type “regedit”regedit
  • then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System >CurrentControlSet > Control.
  • Look on the right and open waittokillapptimeout or waittokillservicetimeout (depends on which OS you are using) and in the values type 1000 (Which stands for 1 Sec) and press ok.
  • Now your pc will shutdown faster!

So actually what did we do? We simply changed the values of time taken to shut down in the Registry from a higher value to just 1 sec. So this will Accelerate your Shut Down Speed.

Make a Invisible Folder without making it Hidden!

Well this trick is quite common and old but well “Old is Gold” and so if you don’t know it then here’s a trick that will help you make a nameless folder in Windows Xp and the make it invisible! (The invisible part isn’t quite popular!)

  • Right  click on a folder which u want to make invisible.
  • Rename the folder.  hold on alt and type 0160 and then leave alt. type the numbers from the numpad.
  • Right click again on the that folder and go to properties  and then customize and change icon from a folder to a blank icon.
  • And there it is you have created  an invisible folder.

You don’t even have to make it hidden folder and still it’s hidden!

Windows XP SP3 Browser Performance Beats Windows 7 RTM

Windows 7 Seems to be called as the best OS in the Windows line. Is that so? Reports don’t suggest so. Well the picture above shows the difference between the OS Browser Speed difference.

Windows Vista beats Windows 7 by 17.1%. Well it is very surprising, as it has been claimed that Windows 7 is supposed to be the fastest operating system among Windows, Windows Xp beats it.

Chrome and Safari tend to work the best and fastest on the windows OS and even more faster on Windows XP SP3.

How much ever you try Microsoft, you’ll fail : Hackers win against software giant

It’s not long time since Windows 7 RTM had been announced. But now if you check out popular torrent websites, you will already find the Cracked Version of Windows 7 Ultimate RTM there!

The Hackers somehow managed to steal OEM disc of Windows 7 which was originally meant for Lenovo. Easy Task. Now came the cracking part. It was the same as it was while cracking up Windows Vista. Activation key was murmured from the Disc itself.

But there’s a twist there. The hackers had to change some Hardware settings to make the crack work on their PC. This is the first time something like this has happened. And i think it’s good, Microsoft is working towards stopping piracy but better luck next time, you loose Microsoft!

Warning From Microsoft : Serious Security hole in Software!

Microsoft Warns users of a possible Loop hole in Internet Explorer on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 allows hackers to install Malicious software and objects Remotely. Well all the malicious software get’s downloaded due to the interaction between Internet Explorer and Active X.

Microsoft’s StopGap solution is currently available to Fix the problem temporarily as this disables the Video Software. Well, the Microsoft is working to fix the problem and you will soon see a Patch coming out, till then if you use Windows Xp or Server Edition 2003 then Make sure you don’t click on a Suspicious links as this will automatically download Viruses.

The Funny Part is that All of my School Computers Work on Windows XP which use I.E 6!! :) And also the server is powered by Windows Server 2003!! So My School surely needs to check out this post!
